What is the PUBLIC SERVICE PENSION REDUCTION (PSPR)?
The Government decided that a reduction in the cost of public service pensions of €100m, or 4% in
overall terms, was necessary in 2011. The reduction applies to existing beneficiaries of public service
pensions; this group includes former Presidents, other former office holders and retired members of
the judiciary. More Information
Yes. Effective 01 July 2013 the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2013
(FEMPI) introduced further reductions to pensions. (See Q37 to Q45)
