C.SENIOR SECONDARY SECTION Std.XI & XII I Term Exam 15th Sep,2016(Onwards) I Pre-Board(XII) 5th Dec,2016 II Pre-Board(XII) 7th Jan, 2017 II Term Exam(XI) 1st Mar,2017(Onwards) *The dates of examination may change, if required. 2) CBSE Examination rules are applicable for final promotion to next class 3) Std. I to X: I Term carries 50% weightage and II Term carries 50% weightage. Syllabus will be divided into two parts. The portion asked in I Term will not be examined in II Term. 4) Std. XI & XII: Term Exam carry 100 marks each. The portion of I Term Exam will be asked in II Term Exam 5) 33% weightage in each subject is required for promotion to the next higher class. 6) 75% attendance is compulsory for every student to appear in Terminal Examination / Summative Assessment. 7) If a student is absent in any of the Term Examination neither re-exam will be taken nor any marks will be awarded for the same. 8) Re-exam /Supplementary Examination will be given according to CBSE norms. 9) From Class VI onwards the pattern of the Question Papers (for Terminal Examination) will be similar to the Board papers of X and XII Examination. 10) Time Duration for Terminal Examinations/ Summative Assessments. For Classes I to V 2 Hrs. for each Subject. For Classes VI to XII 3 Hrs. for each Subject.(15 minutes extra for reading the question paper) 11) Ranks for meritorious students will be decided on the basis of overall performance in both the Term Examinations (only for XI). 12) One ideal student from each class will be awarded a special prize. The criteria for selection will be based on overall performance in academics, co-curricular Activities,sports etc,. 13) Std. I-II: General Knowledge and Moral Science subjects will be taken as oral examinations. 14) Std. III onwards – General Knowledge, Moral Science and Computer subject will be taken as written examinations. SCHOLASTIC AREA (Academic Performance) - It will be evaluated using FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT and SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT. The grading scale for the scholastic domain is a nine point grading scale. Marks Range Grade 91-100 A1 81-90 A2 71-80 B1 61-70 B2 51-60 C1 41-50 C2 33-40 D 21-32 E1 00-20 E2 i) FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT: It is a tool used by the teacher to continuously monitor student’s progress in a nonthreatening and supportive environment. It will consist of class work, oral questions, quizzes, projects, assignment, test, conversation skills, interviews etc. There will be two Formative Assessments in each TERM. It carries 40% of weightage in the session for classes VI to X. ii) SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT: It is the terminal assessment or exam taken by the students at the end of the term. Curriculum/Syllabus for class IX & X will be same as circulated by Board. Curriculum/Syllabus for Class VI to VIII will be given in the beginning of the new session. It will be in the form of pen paper test conducted by the school. For ensuring uniformity and standardization, the question banks in different subjects will be forwarded by CBSE to school. Evaluation of answer scripts will be done by teachers on the basis of marking scheme. Weightage of Formative Assessment(FA) and Summative Assessment (SA) shall be as follows- Weightage for Std VI to X: TERM FIRST TERM ASSESSMENT PERCENTAGE OF WEIGHTAGE TERM WISE WEIGHTAGE TOTAL 50% FIRST TERM 50% FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT 1 10 % FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT 2 10% SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT 1 30% + FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT 3 10% SECOND TERM 50% FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT 4 10% SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT 2 30% = SECOND TERM 50% 100% II. CO-SCHOLASTIC AREAS: These include “LIFE SKILLS” and “ATTITUDE AND VALUES”. Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with challenges of every life. These will be tested using 5 points grade A, B, C, D, E for Std VI to X. Attitudes and values: These are tested with attitude towards teachers, school mates , school programs , environment and value systems. Grading is done on five point scale A, B, C, D, E FOR Std VI to X. III. CO-SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES: These are to be given grades on five point scale A, B, C, D, E for std VI to X. These include i) Literary and Creative skills, Scientific skills, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and organizational and Leadership skills (Clubs) (Any two will be assessed). ii) Health and Physical Education, Sports, NCC, First Aid, Gardening, yoga etc., (Any two are to be assessed which will be opted by the student).
