Cap sizes 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 may be alternatively be made from steel rod with a minimum yield
strength of 30 ksi at the option of the manufacturer. When made from steel rod, diameters shall be 0.50”,
0.69” and 0.84” respectively.
Caps made from steel rod may have no recess. If no recess, dimension P shall be sufficient to provide a
thread length of perfect threads not less than dimension B above, with fully formed thread roots and crests
not less than L2 (effective length of external thread) per ASME B1.20.1
