Overview

A solid state, high-performance disk drive option (feature number 5597 part number/SEO

43W7698), is now available for the IBM System Storage EXP3000 Storage Expansion Unit.

This high-performance, 2.1 watt, 50 GB SATA 3.5-inch SSD drive is supported in EXP3000 expansion units that are directly attached to IBM System x servers via the ServeRAID MR10M

SAS/SATA controller adapter installed in the server.

Key features and benefits

• Designed to deliver high-performance Input/Output Operations per Second (IOPS) - This can help users to increase the performance of their I/O subsystems at a cost equal to or less than adding traditional storage systems.

• Low power requirements - Using as little as 2.1 watt per drive.

• Up time of the drive - Up to three times that of conventional drives without compromising application performance or availability.

• The absence of moving parts reduces potential drive failure.

• S.M.A.R.T technology allows software utility to alert users of certain impending drive failures so replacements can be made before a problem occurs.
