The information in this section refers to the Entry Level Certificates (Academic) (ELC(A)). Please refer to the relevant sections of this manual for all other entry level qualifications. Entry procedures for ELC(A) are similar to those for GCE and GCSE qualifications. ELC(A) is only available to authorised centres.
Estimated entries are required for Entry Level Certificate Physical Education (8930). Please advise
Edexcel of the estimated entries at the beginning of the academic year, using Edexcel Online or by calling Edexcel Customer Services.
1.1 Entry deadlines
Moderation of internal assessment will normally take place in May and June.

Instructions for the completion and sampling can be found on the back of the OPTEMS
(optically read teacher-examiner marksheets). Please note that the level achieved by each candidate (1, 2 or 3) must be written in the mark column of the OPTEMS, except for 8938
Science, where the total mark achieved should be recorded.

1.5 Retention of certificates
It is not necessary to return uncollected certificates to us, as they can be destroyed (in a confidential manner) after retention for a period of no less than 12 months.
2.1 Methods of entry
Please see the Making Entries section of this manual for details of how to enter candidates
(using Edexcel Online) and for information on fees, results and certification.
Centres should refer to the EDI section of this manual if examination entries are submitted by
EDI to Edexcel.
Private candidates cannot be entered for ELC(A).
