Tecumseh is pleased to announce the re-launch of its Lo-Profile Air and Electric Defrost Unit Coolers for
Refrigerated Rooms. Lo-Profile PLP (Air) and PLP-E (Electric) Unit Coolers are the perfect complement to
Tecumseh’s rugged Indoor and new Gen III Outdoor Condensing Units.
Like Tecumseh’s condensing units, these Unit Coolers are designed to handle the rigors of commercial
refrigeration where reliable cooling is required under varying loads and operating conditions. Tecumseh Unit
Coolers are constructed from quality materials including a textured aluminum non-corrosive cabinet, aluminum fan
blades, and durable polycarbonate fan guards.
The addition of Lo-Profile PLP and PLP-E Unit Coolers provides a matched high-side/low-side system design that
can be shipped along with one or more condensing units, to your facility or directly to the job site. PLP and PLP-E
Unit Coolers are easily adapted as a replacement or for use in original equipment. Models cover a capacity range
from 3,800 to 30,000 BTUH in one to six fan unit cooler sizes, scaled to capacity.
Fan motor options include thermally protected, permanently lubricated high efficiency PSC and the highest
efficiency ECM type. The evaporator coil is an efficient copper tube and aluminum fin design. PLP-E models
have evenly spaced serpentine tubular heating elements, defrost termination switch, and fan delay control for
ideal defrosting.
The product is designed for today’s space-conscious environment, allowing maximum capacity in a compact
footprint while providing ease of installation and maintenance for the field technician. Flush ceiling mounting
provides a low silhouette height of 13 ½”. The electrical junction box is located outside the cabinet for easy hook
up and a removable side panel and hinged drain pan allow for easy servicing.
Model Nomenclature
Model numbers for all Unit Coolers follow current nomenclature as described in Tecumseh’s Lo-Profile Unit
Cooler catalog. The sequence will be product family (e.g., “PLP”), BTUH capacity at rating point (e.g., 1000 =
10,000 BTUH), defrost option (e.g. none for Air or “E” for Electric), and fan motor option (e.g. none for PSC or “*A”
for ECM).

Tecumseh carries a full complement of replacement parts to support in field servicing of Unit Coolers. A
Comprehensive Replacement Parts List for PLP and PLP-E product is included in the Lo-Profile Unit Cooler
product catalog. The Technical Service team is also available to field calls and provide support for all Tecumseh
built and sourced products (1.800.211.3427).
Warranty
Tecumseh’s standard warranty applies to all PLP and PLP-E Lo-Profile Unit Coolers.
Lead Time
Popular PLP and PLP-E Unit Cooler models are stocked in our Tupelo, Mississippi distribution center for delivery
individually and/or shipped along with Tecumseh’s Indoor and Gen III Outdoor Condensing Units. Other Unit
Cooler models can be ordered at improved lead times, given accurate and timely forecasting.
Agency Approvals
PLP and PLP-E Unit Coolers released in North America are UL and NSF certified.
