Explanatory Notes on
Use of Emergency Backup Terminals
In case of emergency, there are 20 Emergency Backup Terminals for Exchange Participants’
(EPs’) use on a first-come first-served basis. Four of such Terminals located in the Trading
Hall (Dealing Desk Numbers 291 to 294) are mainly used as backup for On-floor Terminals
(Dealing Desks) whereas the remaining 16 Terminals located at the Backup Centre at 1/F, VHeun Building, 128-140 Queen’s Road Central are primarily reserved for emergency use by
EPs which do not have any Dealing Desk in the Trading Hall.
Application Procedures
1. For faulty On-floor Terminal (Dealing Desk), the floor trader concerned should contact
Trading Floor Office either in person or by phone on 2840 3933 as soon as possible.
2. For faulty Off-floor trading devices, EP should contact Participant General Enquiry
Hotline on 2840 3626 as soon as possible and submit the duly completed “Application
Form for Emergency Backup Terminal” to the Exchange by fax on 2521 7899.

a. For Terminal User (with or without Open Gateways (OGs))

should reapply by following the same application procedures as set out above.
