Program Overview
PROGRAM BENEFITS
The 45-credit Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in
Finance at Sacred Heart University (SHU) is an applied research
doctorate, focused on real-world cases and data. The program is
designed for business executives and practitioners who wish to
acquire advanced, up-to-date quantitative capabilities that are
applicable in financial research, analysis and operations, including
financial risk assessment and management. The structure will
allow participants to develop practical, specialized knowledge
for advancing their careers in both financial institutions and
corporate environments. The program will be highly personalized
and aligned with the participants’ interests and career
aspirations, including those who wish to transition to academia.
The program is devised as an extension of graduate study
beyond a master’s degree in business and as a supplement
to doctoral degrees in non-business fields. It is intended to
train high-level critical thinkers and analytical minds who
can contribute to the challenges of a complex and dynamic
global business world.

Convenient Scheduling for Working Professionals: Most classes in the
three-year, part-time program will meet at SHU’s Stamford Graduate
Center at Landmark Square on a trimester schedule basis (five Fridays
and Saturdays each trimester).
Cohort Delivery: Students can interact with their peers, sharing and
gaining practical knowledge while developing a new network of
colleagues.
Distinguished Faculty: Courses are taught by SHU’s Department
of Economics and Finance full-time and visiting faculty, who are
accomplished, world-renowned scholars with a record of professional
engagement and experience.
Accreditation and Recognition: The DBA in finance program is
offered through the Jack Welch College of Business, one of fewer than
five percent of elite business schools worldwide that are accredited by
AACSB International.
The program has received a licensure from the State of Connecticut Office

PROGRAM DELIVERY
The DBA program is delivered through blended executive program style
meeting formats. The executive format will encourage a collaborative
environment. The weekend residency will focus on face-to-face classroom
instruction during the first two years of the program. The more advanced
stages of the program will be based on independent research and
dissertation preparation.
The weekend residency mode will enable you to:

•Establish networking opportunities with faculty and your fellow students
