European Field Hockey Showcase
The Go USA - International Field Hockey Showcase is an annual exposure event bringing together young
amateur field hockey players from all Europe with high school and college field hockey coaches from the
United States. The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday June 9 & 10, 2012, in The Hague, the
Netherlands. UStudy, the Netherlands’ premier college placement agency for prospective studentathletes, will host this special event. It is brought to you in cooperation with Hockey Club Klein
Zwitserland in The Hague.
Who should attend?
UStudy invites all girls in high school or pursuing post-secondary education with an interest in studying
and playing college field hockey in the US starting in 2013 or later. There will be two age groups: age 1316 and age 17 and up. This event offers a great opportunity for talented field hockey players who want
to step up to the next level and get an education in the US.
Participating players receive comprehensive information about college study and field hockey in the US,
including overviews of the American education system, field hockey levels, testing, and other application
steps, and how to showcase their skills for coaches. In addition, they will receive training from Daan
Polders, a Dutch former top Division I coach (Wake Forest University and Michigan State University).
Polders is very familiar with the system, the levels and the different college programs throughout the
country and therefore is an excellent source for information and advice. The participants’ field hockey
tactics, skills, and overall game will be evaluated by Polders and recorded on video. The evaluation
report will help players to market themselves successfully to coaches in the US.
American coaches from NCAA DI, II and III colleges and universities and high schools have also been
invited to attend, and will be evaluating potential players for their teams. However, the American
coaches cannot talk to you during this event due to NCAA rules. If coaches are interested in recruiting
you, the coaches will be contacting you by phone or email after the conclusion of the event. There is an
exception for senior high school students: they are allowed to talk to college coaches right after the
conclusion of the event on Sunday.
During the showcase there will be players attending who played field hockey while they went to college
in the US. They are one of the best resources for sharing their experiences.
