PROGRAMME GvW SYMPOSIUM THE INDUSTRIAL INSURANCE CONGRESS 07- 09 SEPTEMBER 2016 MUNICH www.gvw-germany.de FOREWORD Ladies and Gentlemen, This year for the first time the event you previously knew as the DVS Symposium is taking place under the new name of the GvW Symposium. The reason for this is the merger of the DVS Deutscher Versicherungs-Schutzverband e.V. and bfv Bundesverband der firmenverbundenen Versicherungsvermittler und -gesellschaften e.V. associations into the new Gesamtverband der versicherungsnehmenden Wirtschaft e.V. (GvW) that was decided in April. But even with a new name, the symposium will remain what you are familiar with and can continue to expect: the foremost industrial insurance congress and market place in the German-speaking world, which this year – as ever – will give you the opportunity to discuss the specialist issues shaping our industry with other operators on the market. I am delighted that we have been able to secure Dr. Thomas Buberl, the new CEO of the AXA Group, to give the opening speech, who will be sharing his views of the future of (industrial) insurance with us. Our keynote speaker on day two is Mr. Olaf Kastner, now head of the sales region of China for the BMW Group and former head of the insurance division at BMW. During his keynote he will address the challenges German industry faces in China, among other topics. Finally, I hope that with our third speaker, Mr. Alexander Huber of “Huber lads” fame, we will once again be able to offer you an interesting talk taking you “off the beaten track”. The focus of the GvW Symposium this year, as always, is the specialist part of the event. Here we will be hosting two forums, one organised by young professionals starting out in their career, which build on one of the focal points from last year – notably the challenges of demographic change when it comes to attracting young talent to our industry. The question of the added value provided by industrial insurance and its future as a riskfinancing instrument for companies also continues to be of interest. This will be the subject of another specialist forum chaired by my colleague Dr. Eberhard Faller, although the topic will no doubt also feature in the final discussion on day two, which this year our former DVS chairman Dr. Hanns Martin Schindewolf will be heading on the subject of “The industrial insurance business model”. In addition to this there are many other topics on the programme which are designed to provide practical support in your day-to-day work: from the subject of personal insurance to claims and risk management, to new coverage concepts all the way to international insurance programmes and macro-economic impacts on policy holders, you have a whole host of different specialist forums to select your topics of choice from. This year’s event will kick off with the “Milestone” industrial insurance innovation award, which is awarded by the Funk Foundation in cooperation with GvW. We already announced this last year and I am very pleased that we have already received 15 applications in the first year. We will be presenting the three winners and their projects to you in Munich, but also be giving a brief overview of the other applications. I would be delighted if the programme enclosed arouses your interest this year, too, and I were to have the privilege of welcoming you to the “1st GvW Symposium” in Munich in September.
