Bulletin No. 80438-604-02A April 1998 Seneca, SC, USA Instruction Bulletin Gasket Installation for TELEMECANIQUE ® Series 5600 Units Motor Control Centers (MCC) Class 8998 DANGER HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, BURN, OR EXPLOSION • This equipment must be installed and serviced only by qualified electrical personnel. • Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside. • Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm that power is off. • Replace all devices, doors, and covers before turning on the power to this equipment. Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury. INTRODUCTION This bulletin provides instructions for installing unit gaskets. These gaskets are designed to keep airborn contaminants from entering the TELEMECANIQUE® Series 5600 Unit along the vertical and horizontal door closing flanges, the handle on the circuit breaker operating mechanism, and the control station plate. INSTALLATION 1. Turn off all power supplying the MCC. Use a properly rated voltage sensing device to verify that all power is off. 2. Remove the gasket from the packing. 3. Cut the gasket strip to the length required. 4. Remove the self-adhesive backing. 5. Install on these surfaces (see Figure 1): ➀ The vertical door closing flange on each side of the unit. ➁ The horizontal door closing flanges provided above and below the unit. ➂ Around the handle on the circuit breaker operating mechanism. ➃ Around the control station plate, which houses the pilot devices.
