Feast on Energy Savings this Fall
Take advantage of our bounty of tips, rebates and
services available at Roseville Electric to reduce
your power use this winter and save all year long!
To keep your home comfortable
•
Set your thermostat to 68 degrees
•
Install weather stripping and/or caulk your
leaky windows and doors
•
Hire a contractor to seal your heating and
cooling ducts
•
Replace incandescent bulbs with ENERGY
STAR® compact fluorescent bulbs. Compact
fluorescent bulbs use 75 percent less
energy compared to incandescent bulbs.
•
Use timers to avoid having your holiday
lights on all night
•
On cool sunny days open your drapes and
blinds to let in the warm sunshine
•
Keep your fireplace damper closed when
you’re not using it. Closing the damper
prevents up to 8 percent of your home’s
heat from escaping up the chimney.
To understand how to achieve the greatest
savings, participate in our online energy audit to
get a personalized report on how you use power
and how you can save.

Roseville Electric will celebrate with the
community by having a booth at the event

Roseville Electric Tests New Street Light Technology
Roseville Electric has begun a multi-month
program to test the feasibility of using new
energy efficient technology for City streetlights.
Three locations in our community have test
light-emitting diodes (LED) fixtures in place.
Staff will assess the energy required for the
lamps, luminance, light uniformity, light color
and maintenance requirements to determine
whether the LED designs meet our standards and
are cost effective.
The general public, local neighborhoods, police
and fire will be asked for feedback to help with
the staff’s evaluation – which will include an
economic analysis – that will be completed in
early 2011.
This test project costs $50,000 and is funded
using a portion of the $1.07 million in
Department of Energy Block Grant Federal
Stimulus money awarded to Roseville last year.
Fall is an Excellent Time
Too Plant a Shade Tree
If you’ve been thinking about planting shade
trees around your home, now is the perfect
time. Roseville Electric can help you get started
by providing a $30 rebate on trees you buy and
plant yourself.
Participation is easy; go to your favorite nursery or
home and garden store, purchase qualifying trees
and plant them around your home. You select
the size and type of deciduous trees that work
best for you and your home.
Planting shade trees during the fall allows you
to take advantage of the wet season, letting
Mother Nature do some of the watering. Young
and newly planted shade trees require a good
amount of watering to help roots develop and
take hold. Remember to use mulch around the
base of the trees to help reduce heat and keep
moisture in the soil.
Visit our website for a list of shade trees that
thrive in our climate zone, rebate information and
instructions on how to plant trees around your
home at www.roseville.ca.us/shadetree.
Can’t decide what Shade Trees are right for your
home? Visit the Roseville Utility Exploration
Center, 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd. in Mahany
Park to see a variety of qualifying trees. For
information call (916) 746-1550 or drop by.
