Through its far sighted planning and unceasing product and service innovation, LCIB has successfully cultivated a manufacturing profile of an extensive range of cable and wire products. From households, XLPE cables, telecommunication cables for both domestic and export markets. LCIB has achieved a distinguished reputation as a leading supplier of power and telecommunication cable to major corporations, both local and foreign. Today, as a subsidiary of the LEADER group of companies, LCIB has one of the most advanced facilities for manufacturing PVC insulated cables in the Asia-Pacific region. The PVC insulated cables manufactured today by LCIB are internationally renowned for its world class quality standards. PVC has been in use as an insulating and outersheathing material for a long time. Since PVC has some degree of flame retardance, and resistance to oils and chemicals, it has found many suitable applications including low power and control uses. Generally, there are two types of PVC, general purpose and heat resistant PVCs with maximum conductor temperatures of 70°C and 90°C respectively. PVC insulated cables are used in power distribution, building wire, appliance wiring, flexible cord and machine tool wiring. Communication applications use polyvinyl chloride coverings on a limited basis. Insulation and jackets made from polyvinyl chloride have a number of desirable properties that make them the insulation and jacketing material of choice for many common applications. These properties include flexibility, resistance to temperature, resistance to adverse environmental situations and low cost . This catalogue serves as a guide to LCIB’s manufacturing processes and standards in the production of PVC insulated cables, both armoured and unarmoured, including one with reduced neutral conductor and a maximum phase-to-phase voltage of 1000 volt. The conductor used is mainly plain annealed copper. Other conductors, such as tinned copper and aluminium are also available and may be supplied upon request. 2 CU / PVC INSULATED CABLE Conductor Plain annealed copper Insulation PVC Compound Colour of cores Red, Yellow, Blue, Black, White and Green or Green/Yellow Conductor Area Shape mm² Thickness of Insulation Approx. overall diameter Approx net weight mm mm Kg / Km MS 136, BS 6004 & IEC 60227, 450/750 V 1.5 1.5 2.5 s.c. r.m. s.c. 0.7 0.7 0.8 2.9 3.0 3.5 21 23 33 2.5 4 6 r.m. r.m. r.m. 0.8 0.8 0.8 3.6 4.2 4.7 35 51 72 10 16 25 r.m. r.m. c.c. 1.0 1.0 1.2 6.1 6.8 8.4 120 175 280 35 50 70 c.c. c.c. c.c. 1.2 1.4 1.4 9.6 11.2 12.9 370 500 710 95 120 150 c.c. c.c. c.c. 1.6 1.6 1.8 15.0 16.6 18.4 980 1220 1490 185 240 300 c.c. c.c. c.c. 2.0 2.2 2.4 20.6 23.4 26.1 1870 2450 3070 400 500 630 c.c. c.c. c.c. 2.6 2.8 2.8 29.3 32.7 36.4 3920 4940 6280 Note : s.c. - solid circular, r.m. - circular stranded, c.c. - compacted circular stranded 3 PVC INSULATED, PVC SHEATHED UNARMOURED CABLE Conductors Plain annealed copper or aluminium Insulation General purpose PVC compound Colour of cores Single core - red and black 2 cores - red and black 3 cores - red, yellow and blue 4 cores - red, yellow, blue and black Formation (i) Single core (ii) 2, 3, or 4 cores - stranded together and the interstices may be filled with the sheathing compound or textile.
