Lessons to remember
Accident victims told audience of trainees how difficult life becomes after a person becomes disabled. They used live demonstrations and drew from their personal experience as victims and how the accident altered their lives and that of their families.
The theme for 2016 Gulf Traffic week was “ Your decision determines your fate ”. Governments, businesses and organizations worked together to raise an increased level of traffic safety awareness to the drivers in the GCC region. The slogan “ Hizamak..Amanak
” “ Your Belt...Your Safety ” stressed the notion that individuals should take extra precautions in order to insure their safety and that of others by simply taking 5-seconds to wear their safety belt.
Organizers of GCC Traffic Week held a safety event at NITI on March 24 from 9:30 to 14:30 in NITI
Auditorium. The day witnessed various safety video clips and sessions held on topics ranging from
Effects on life after accidents,
Be proud to save lives,
How to deal with an injury,
A trip with a driver,
Officials from traffic police and Saudi Aramco Southern Area presided the event. The event was well received and around 1000 NITI and 500 Saudi Aramco trainees of Mubarraz and Udhaliyah ITCs attended the event along with teachers and staff.
Two disabled youths spoke for an hour of how they had traffic accidents and the consequences resulting therefrom. They told audience of trainees how difficult life becomes after a person becomes disabled. They used live demonstrations and drew from their personal experience as victims and how the accidents altered their lives and that of their families. The speeches and demonstrations were very touching and stirred emotions among all trainees and attendees. All trainees were reminded to drive safely and to observe the speed limits as it was found to be one of the major causes as depicted in the below diagram.
