 Discussed the theory behind, and evaluated the data processed by, the mill’s shape model.
Researched x-ray thickness measurement and display to incorporate live data during rolling.
 Calibrated and monitored the efficiency and accuracy of a newly-installed slab width gauge
by comparing gauge measurements to manual measurements.
Study Abroad at the RWTH Aachen University

 Investigated the effects of slag composition and holding time on the oxidation of copper and
other metals based on results from trials using a top-blown rotary converter to extract
copper ingots from a mixture of pre-combusted electronic waste.

Structurally Active Thin Films Laboratory, Michigan State University
 Analyzed the extent of heat-activated two-way indentation based on the superelasticity of
NiTi. Prepared NiTi discs were imprinted, heat-treated, and observed using 3D optical
profilometry. Tribological tests were performed with the specimens.
 Characterized microstructures of NiTi specimens brazed with Nb thin films using a
Scanning Electron Microscope.
