REVISED 2-4-15
WHY YOU WANT AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE
Low Maintenance
EVs have fewer mechanical parts than gas-powered cars. That means no
oil changes or tune-ups for your 100% electric vehicle.
Convenient
Charge your EV at home! A 240-volt charger, installed in your garage
or on your driveway, can charge your car in a matter of hours. And,
there’s plenty of off-peak energy available during the overnight hours.
A standard 120-volt works just fine for plug-in hybrids overnight,
delivering a full charge in 6 to 8 hours. Contact a local electrician to
ensure that your home is EV ready.
Energy Independence
Plug-in vehicles use power produced locally or regionally so the money
you spend to fuel your car stays right here in Texas…most of it in San
Antonio.
CPS Energy’s diverse fuel sources make power more affordable and
reliable than the global oil markets.
Clean and Green
When you recharge, some of that electricity comes from CPS Energy’s
wind and solar farms. Clean, emission-free Texas energy! And reducing
the number of gas vehicles on the road decreases carbon emissions
and air pollution. It’s all good for the environment and San Antonio’s
air quality.

What We’re Doing
CPS Energy has already installed more than 120 public charging
stations throughout San Antonio.
We’re evaluating options to enable charging for EV owners in multifamily residential housing, setting up a program that helps employers
provide vehicle charging for their employees, and updating the singlefamily residential rebate program.
We’re also engaged in fleet-focused research that should provide
businesses data-backed information to make financially sound decisions
about integrating EVs into fleets.
Let’s go EV, SA!
