DESCRIPTION
Ormazabal’s CGMCOSMOS-2LV consists of a SF6 fully insulated Ring
Main Unit (2SD&1CB type) for Medium Voltage Secondary Distribution
networks up to 12 kV.
This switchgear results from the implementation of new technologies,
standards and materials, alongside the improvements arising from the
experience gained since the beginning of the 1990s.
CGMCOSMOS-2LV is a highly safe, reliable and user-friendly RMU,
capable of withstanding all environmental conditions in MV transformer
substations.
FEATURES
• Protection and safety for people, goods and equipment against internal arc effects, proven through tests performed in accordance with IEC 62271-200 standard.
• Capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions (including temporary flooding), long service life and absence of
maintenance in live parts through full gas insulation and the use of
screened connectors.
• Small size and low weight, making handling and installation easier.
•
Safe and simple operation through the use of user-friendly driving mechanisms, including interlocks as standard and no need to
manipulate the earthing circuit while cable testing.
• Routine and traceability factory-testing in all equipments.
•Visual display of the position of the switchgear in the synoptic diagram, validated by the kinematic chain test in accordance with
IEC 62271-102.
• High anti-corrosive levels achieved with the use of innovative
materials.

The CGMCOSMOS system meets the immersion tests at 3 metres water column pressure, 24 hours at rated
voltage and insulating tests at power frequency.

SAFETY
• Personal, goods and equipment protection against the effects of internal arcs.
• Live parts capability of withstanding harsh
environmental conditions (humidity, salinity, dust, pollution, etc.) and protection against indirect contacts.
• The leak-proof and sealed steel gas tank, houses the breaking and switching components.
• The circuit-breaker ensures the isolating distance and has earthing switching capacity, both
capabilities are provided by its associated
disconnector.

INTERNAL ARC
CGMCOSMOS-2LV cubicles are designed to protect
people and goods against the effects of internal arcs,
complying with the criteria of IEC 62271-200 standard
and NRS specifications:
• IAC Class AFL (R as an option): Up to 20* kA 0.5 s
(*) Note: Tests conducted at 21 kA
CABLE TESTING
• Design in compliance with NRS specifications.
• Easy frontal access.
• Safety for the operator: no need to manipulate the earting circuit while cable testing.
• Plug-In type connector on the test points.
• Transformer substations: safe on testing due to the distance between the test points and the metallic parts of the substation.
