A major disadvantage of tele ski bindings for touring in avy country is the risk of skis not coming off when caught in a slide (even a small one). The SPIKE binding heel slides off the rear of the boot with moderate pressure, normally from your ski pole when you are stepping out of the bindings. In the event of snow from a slide (yellow arrow below) pushing down on the heel strike, it is likely that the heel of the boot would disengage and that you would come out of the binding. If you are caught in an avalanche, there are no guaranties, but every possible advantage helps...
