SARAH CHATFIELD £ I am currently working on my PhD at UC Berkeley. My dissertation looks at women’s economic rights in U.S. history, such as rights relating to owning property, inheritance, and labor. In addition to teaching and writing, I also love exploring the Bay Area, hiking, cooking, and playing softball on my department team. I have been a member of OCDC since 2004. I think the biggest way OCDC shaped my outlook on life after college is the idea of being “multi-partial” rather than “non-partial.” This approach has been particularly important in unofficially mediating conflicts as a teaching assistant. I am often in the position of being an intermediary between professors and students, and I find it’s more satisfying to everyone involved to take this type of approach rather than attempting to be simply neutral and removed from the situation. £
