Please read these instructions before installing and/or using the product. ● Please connect the additional battery unit only after having fully understood the relevant procedures for the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), found in the UPS Instruction Manual. For information about repairs, contact us at __________. ● Injury may result if the unit falls or is dropped. ● If you drop the unit, stop using it and have it inspected and repaired. Keep plastic bags out of the reach of children. ● Children may suffocate if they put their heads into plastic bags. 1 Caution (installation) Do not install the unit in other than specified orientations. ● Dropping or toppling the unit may cause injury. ● If you install the unit in an orientation other than specified, the unit cannot be protected from a battery fluid leakage. ● Use the included vertical stand when positioning the unit vertically and secure stands with screws on the installation location. Do not use the unit where the maximum temperature exceeds 55°C. ● The battery deteriorates rapidly. ● Doing so may cause a failure or malfunction of the unit. Do not exceed the ranges specified for environmental conditions during use/ storage.Do not install or store the unit in the places listed below. ● Do not store in places where the humidity is lower than 10% or higher than 90%. ● Do not use the unit in places where the ambient temperature is lower than -10°C or higher than 55°C. (With no condensation) ● Do not use in places where the humidity is lower than 10% or higher than 90%. ● Do not install/store the unit in closed places such as cabinets with no clearance, places where there is flammable or corrosive gas, places with large amounts of dust, places exposed to direct sunlight, places exposed to shock or vibration, or outdoors. ● Installation or storing the unit in such a place may cause a fire. When installing the unit on a rack, place it on the lower shelf. ● Injury may result if the unit falls. Caution (use) When the battery is dead, replace it immediately or stop using the unit. ● Continuing the use of it may cause a fire. Do not place objects heavier than 25 kg on the unit, and do not drop heavy objects onto the unit. ● Doing so may cause distortion/damage to the case or a failure of the internal circuit, which may cause a fire. Do not use the product in a closed place and/or do not cover the product. ● Doing so may cause abnormal heating or a fire. Do not pour water on the unit and do not allow it to become wet. ● Doing so may cause an electric shock or a fire. ● If the unit becomes wet, immediately stop using it, have it inspected and repaired. For information about repairs, contact us at __________. Do not insert metal objects into the battery connectors. Do not create a short between the connector terminals. ● Doing so may cause an electric shock. 2 Caution (battery replacement) Perform replacement on a stable and flat surface. ● Handle the battery carefully so that you do not drop it. ● Dropping the battery may result in injury or burns due to leakage (acid). Use a specified battery for replacement. ● Using a battery other than that which is specified may cause a fire. ● Product models: BUB100RE: 2 required Do not replace the battery in a place where there is flammable gas. ● A spark may occur when connecting the battery, which may cause an explosion or fire. If fluid (dilute sulfuric acid) leaks from the battery, do not touch it. ● Doing so may cause blindness or burns. ● If it touches your eyes or skin, wash it out with lots of clean water and consult your doctor. Do not try to disassemble or modify the product. ● Doing so may cause the battery to leak dilute sulfuric acid, which may cause blindness or burns. Do not drop the battery or expose it to strong impact. ● Doing so may cause the battery to leak dilute sulfuric acid. Do not short the battery with metal objects. ● Doing so may cause an electric shock, fire or burn. ● Some electrical energy remains inside the spent battery. Do not put the battery into fire, and do not break it. ● The battery may explode or leak dilute sulfuric acid. Do not use a new battery and an old battery at the same time. ● Doing so may cause the battery to leak dilute sulfuric acid. Notes Charge the battery immediately after purchase. ● If you do not use the unit for a long time after purchase, the battery performance may deteriorate and it may become unusable. ● The battery can be charged by connecting the AC input plug of the UPS to commercial power. When storing the UPS, charge the battery thoroughly and turn OFF the power switch. Recharge the battery within 6 months when storage temperature is 25℃ or less, or within 2 months when storage temperature is 40℃ or less. ● The battery discharges even when it not being used, and it goes into over discharge state if it is left for a long period of time. The backup time may become shorter or the battery may become unusable. ● The battery charge time is 36 hours when 1 additional battery unit is connected, 60 hours when 2 units connected, or 84 hours when 3 units connected. Do not install or store the unit in a place exposed to direct sunlight. ● A rise in temperature may cause the built-in battery to deteriorate rapidly and become unusable. This unit uses a lead acid battery. ● Lead acid batteries are a valuable recyclable resource. Please recycle. Installation and connection 2-1 Installation Install the additional battery unit. Do not use this unit in any position other than the correct positions indicated in the illustration below. Correct positions BATTERY UNIT Be careful not to get your fingers caught when arranging the unit. Caster at the bottom may be removed when sitting horizontally. The upper unit may fall down by vibration etc. BATTERY UNIT BATTERY UNIT 5 2-1-1. Rackmount installation (EIA /JIS 19-inch rack/server rack) Caution When performing rack installation, ensure that the UPS is supported and stabilized by using both the support angles and the table clamps that were included. Be sure to place the additional battery unit in a position lower than the UPS. ● When installing on a rack, make sure that the UPS is supported by the each unit individually using the support angles. ● When installing on a rack, make sure to use the support angles and brackets included with the product. Without the support angles, the front clamp alone cannot support the weight of the UPS. BU100RE: Approx. 18.5 kg, BUM100RE: Approx. 25 kg ● Weight of the unit: In a case where the UPS is to be mounted on a rack, place it on the lower part of the rack. ● Dropping it may result in injury. For JIS standards, use a total of 6 included screws to fix the rack; 1 JIS rack fixing flat-head screw (M5) at a front position of the each of right and left support angles, 2 EIA/JIS rack fixing screws (M5) at 2 rear positions. 3 The screw hole position for the front is at the second screw hole from the top, the rear is at the second screw hole from the bottom. 3 Adjust the length to suit the server rack and tighten securely. 2 2 3 Rack fixing screws (4) Use the 8 included ear bracket mounting flat-head screws (2 sets of 4 screws) to securely fasten the ear brackets to the left and right sides of this unit. 4 4 NIT YU ER TT BA 4 The support angles cannot be attached to special EIA/JIS racks. 7 (5) Place the unit on the support angles and push it completely into the rack 5, and use the 2 included EIA/JIS rack fixing screws and unit fixing nuts to securely fasten the ear brackets to the server rack. 6 5 Push completely in NIT U RY TE BAT 6 Use the unit fixing screws to fasten Always use the support angles. 8 2-1-2. Stationary installation Perform installation only as shown in the diagrams below. ● Horizontal installation Attach the included rubber feet for horizontal installation with the included M3 screws and position the unit horizontally. For stationary horizontal installation, make sure that this product does not slide or fall. BU100RE BATTERY UNIT BUM100RE When connecting multiple additional battery units, install them at a lower position than the UPS. Do not slide the unit when the rubber feet are touching the floor. ● Upright installation BU100RE 2nd BUM100RE 1st BUM100RE BATTERY UNIT BATTERY UNIT Use the upright stands (2) and M3 flat-head screws (6) included with the product. Secure stands with screws (M6 or M7) on the installation location. 1st BUM100RE When connecting multiple additional battery units, install them on the right side of the UPS. 9 2-2 Connecting the additional battery unit When the unit is used in compliance with UL standards or CE marking,Connecting an additional battery unit should be performed or supervised by personnel familiar with the danger of batteries and the required precautions. (1) Remove the protective cover at the right side viewed form the back of the additional battery unit. (2) Remove the protective cap of the connection cable running from the back of the additional battery unit. Protective cover (3) Fix the cable holder of the connection cable to the back of the UPS with screws, and connect the battery addition connector and battery addition signal connector at the back of the UPS. M3 screw Protective cap 10 3. Replacing the battery The battery can be replaced while the UPS is stopped. (power supply output stopped) Caution When performing battery replacement while the unit is installed vertically, first replace the upper battery pack before replacing the lower battery pack. ● The unit may fall over if the lower battery pack is removed first. . Caution Be sure to replace the batteries of the UPS and additional battery unit at the same time. Do not replace the battery of only one of UPS or additional battery unit. Caution When the unit is used in compliance with UL standards or CE marking,battery replacement should be performed or supervised by personnel familiar with the danger of batteries and the required precautions. * When the battery replacement LED lights up/blinks and beeper sounds, press the beep stop/test switch for 0.5 seconds to stop the beeper. (Lighting/blinking of “battery replacement” LED does not disappear.) * If an input power supply error such as a power failure occurs when replacing the battery while in operation, backup cannot be performed and output stops. * Do not replace the battery during backup operation. Output will stop. Battery replacement procedure For information on UPS battery replacement procedure, refer to the UPS instruction manual. Remove the two screws that fix the front panel. Pull the left side of the front panel toward you and 1. remove it. NIT U RY TE BAT 2. Remove the two screws that fix the subpanel. Shift the subpanel to the right by approx. 5 mm, and then pull it toward you and remove it. NIT YU ER TT BA 11 3. Rotate the two screws on the right side counterclockwise to loosen for about one rotation. Do not remove these screws. (Doing so may result in the bracket on the back of the panel slided to the left and the panel come off.) 4. Put the tip of the driver into the upper right hole and slide the subpanel to the left.remove it. 5. Pull the right side of the battery fixing plate (it holds the battery so that it won’t slip and drop) toward you for approx. 10 cm, and then pull it to the right for approx. 5 mm to remove it. 12 6. Remove the connector of the cable that runs from the battery pack. Pull it while holding the locking mechanism located at the top and bottom of the connector. ● Replacement battery pack Model number BUB100RE (2 required) 7. Remove the battery pack by pulling the L-type hold on the front face of the battery pack. Caution Do not hold the battery pack by the connector or cable. Use the line on the label on top of the battery pack, which is 10 cm from the inner edge of the battery, to gauge how much further you need to pull the battery to remove it. Hold the battery securely with both hands so as not to drop it. 8. Pb 9. Insert the connector that runs from the battery pack. 13 10. To mount the battery fixing plate, put the hook at the left of the fixing plate to inside the left side of the unit. The cable of the battery pack must be placed inside the fixing plate. 11. Insert the battery fixing plate into the unit while pressing the right side of the plate. The slide plate inside the fixing plate must be present to the left side all the way. 12. Put the tip of the driver into the hole at the bottom right of the battery fixing plate, and slide it all the way to the right. The fixing plate will be temporarily fixed. 14 13. Put the tip of the driver into the hole at the bottom right of the battery fixing plate, and slide it all the way to the right. The fixing plate will be temporarily fixed. 14. To mount the subpanel, put the hook inside the subpanel into the slit at the right side of the unit. Fix the subpanel with the two screws that have been removed. NIT YU ER TT BA NIT YU ER TT BA 15. To fix the front panel, put the hook at the right side of the front panel to inside the subpanel. Fix the subpanel with the two screws that have been removed. NIT YU ER TT BA 16. Make sure the unit is mounted securely to prevent it from falling off. Otherwise injury may result. 15 Press and hold the beep stop/test switch of the UPS for 10 seconds or longer to reset the battery life counter. Resetting is complete when “bJ” is displayed. * Perform a reset with the “AC input” plug ON. - Stopping (power supply switch OFF): When the beeper becomes a sustained beep, release the switch. - In Commercial Power Mode (power supply switch ON): When the beeper changes from intermittent beeps to a sustained beep, release the switch. If you do not reset the battery life counter, a battery deterioration alarm may occur faster than the expected battery life. Write the date you start using the battery on the included battery replacement date label, and attach it to BUM100R/300R. Also, the UPS monitoring software included with the UPS enables to keep a record of the software usage start date Notes This unit uses a lead acid battery. ● Lead acid batteries are a valuable recyclable resource.
