GRP Kiosks & Enclosures
GRP kiosks have many advantages over traditional brick-built and steel enclosures. Off-site construction with a quick
installation has a lower impact on the site surroundings than a traditional build and the flexibility of design and choice of
external finish gives a visually pleasing housing that suits the environment.
TM
MCL design, manufacture and install Corbilt custom
designed kiosks of any size, (our largest dimensions to

LPCB Security Rating
MCL recognise that the majority of the kiosks and enclosures we manufacture are designed to house and protect equipment
that, if tampered with, could have devastating consequences. Restricting access to a bore-hole pump which supplies fresh
water to a city or town, or to chlorination equipment, for example, is essential. In most contract specifications the security rating
of the kiosk/enclosure is a vital part of our customer’s design.
AMP6, the latest Asset Management Programme which is set
to run between 2015 and 2020, sees an increase in the
security level demanded for TMkiosks from SR3 to
predominately SR4. MCL Securbilt kiosks are tested and
certified to LPS 1175: Issue 7, LPCB SR3 and SR4, and are
listed within the Red Book.

Additional Features
We manufacture a number of additional features which
can be incorportated into your kiosk’s design without
compromising the LPCB SR3 and SR4 rating including
additional ventilation and cable access (catflap) features.
LPCB is part of BRE Global, an independent third party approval body offering certification of fire,
security and sustainable products and services to an international market.
To achieve and maintain this prestigious approval our products are rigorously tested and our
manufacturing sites are annually audited.
CASE STUDY
The Brief: During AMP5, water companies were upgrading their strategic water assets to
comply with The Distributions Service Reservoir (DSR) Security and Emergency Measures
Direction (SEMD). MCL were approached by a major water company with a view to replacing
their existing bore-hole kiosks with LPCB SR3 certified kiosks. The scope of work included
removal and disposal of the existing kiosks and the manufacture and installation of the new
kiosks. MCL were responsible for conducting site surveys of over 30 sites and providing a like
for like, but security enhanced, kiosk for the existing assets.
The Solution: MCL tendered for the package of work and, once the order was received, attended
programme
meetings to ensure the targeted completion date could be achieved – thirty
TM
Securbilt LPCB SR3 kiosks within a four month period. MCL took full responsibility for
ensuring that the kiosks were to the correct specification and that all existing vents and
electrical equipment were retro-fitted to the new kiosks. The MCL site installation teams
removed batches of the existing kiosks replacing them with the new security rated kiosks on
the same day, ensuring that all of the customers assetts were secure at all times.
The Result: The project was completed on time and within the cost expectations of the
customer. Glowing reports were received on the quality and commitment of the site installation
team who had to deal with last-minute scheduling changes and sites which had been affected
by continuous rainfall.

GC TM Industrial & Commercial
Gas Meter Housings
TM
The patented Gas Care Services GC range is the industry’s choice for housing industrial meters. Held
in stock for a fast delivery, the range was originally developed with National Grid Gas by a former
Transco gas engineer. The innovative housings became a quick and easy to install alternative to
traditional brick-built enclosures, quickly converting the market to specify this progression.
TM
The GC range is designed
T for the specific meter size and
gas pressure and is now widely used where commerical
smart meters are installed, the GRP construction being
superior as it does not interfere with telemetery.

Electricity Substation Kiosks
MCL’s electricity substation kiosk is designed to house and protect both larger and smaller substations/transformers. This kiosk
is the first of its kind to be tested to the industry standard BRE test TCR 20/97 in 15 years and is manufactured to meet individual
DNO requirements.
The kiosk has an explosion relief roof, fixed with extendable
brackets, to minimise the effect of a potential explosion.
In the event of an explosion, the extendable brackets allow the
roof to elevate and to be guided back down into place once
the pressure of the explosion has dissipated. As well as
protecting passers-by, as the force disperses through the vents
and restrained roof, there is minimal/no damage to the GRP
kiosk itself.
Features:
Internal colour options or standard white
Manufactured to meet individual DNO option requirements
Integral explosion relief roof
Meets the requirements of the main DNO standards
GRP Doorsets
Our GRP doorsets, for use with brick-built
substations, are supplied with our unique
powder coated frame and can be manufactured
in matching colours if required or in standard
black.
We have incorporated high quality aluminium
vents within the door leaves to improve the
ventilation inside the kiosk as the equipment
housed within these kiosks tend to over heat.

Chemical containment /
Chlorination kiosks
Chemical Containment Kiosks
MCL’s Chemical Containment Kiosk is designed to prevent the
unwanted leakage of harmful chemicals/liquids into the
kiosk’s surrounding environment.
With the option of certification to LPCB SR3 and SR4, the
kiosk incorporates compartments or bunds to segregate
different chemicals and machinery stored within the kiosk to
avoid cross contamination. We have developed a method of
exiting pipes (with a maximum diameter of Ø260mm) through
this kiosk without compromising its LPCB SR3 or SR4
certification.
Internal vent outlet (vent from pump to outside)
A sump can be incorporated
Bottom level lifting solutions (lifted into place from the bottom
of the kiosk to prevent working at height)
Structural floors / removable sill
Chlorination Kiosks
MCL’s Chlorination Kiosk, certified to LPS1175 Issue 7 SR3 and
SR4 is manufactured with protection and security at the
forefront of design.
Ensuring the safety of the customer’s equipment against
attack or contamination is crucial as many of our Chlorination
Kiosks house chemicals/equipment used in the cleaning and
supplying of fresh drinking water.
We offer internal sealed walls as a standard feature of our
chlorination kiosk to create gas tight rooms. In many instances
this is crucial as a kiosk could be holding a number of different
chemicals and/or pieces of equipment that if mixed together
could be potentially dangerous and costly.
An in-house smoke test before shipping to ensure the kiosk is
gas tight
Base plates to allow easier installation of equipment
Steel or GRP doors, with panic bars if required
Bottom level lifting solutions (lifted into place from the
bottom of the kiosk to prevent working at height)
Factory built to reduce installation time - can be delivered and
fully operational within hours

Bore-hole kiosks
The MCL security rated Bore-hole Kiosk is used to protect bore-hole pumps which extract fresh ground water for use as drinking
or potable water.
Manufactured with security in mind, certified to LPCB SR3 and
SR4, we ensure that access into the bore-hole kiosk is
restricted, reducing the risk of intentional/unintentional water
contamination.
We offer partitioning walls as a standard feature to create

Sewers for Adoption
and Blower Kiosks
Sewers for Adoption Kiosks
The Sewers for Adoption Kiosk is designed to house control
panels which are used to control sewerage pumps in the
treatment of waste water.
MCL manufacture to each water company’s own
specification including kiosks for Sewers for Adoption
and Sewers for Scotland:
This kiosk is generally manufactured with a separate
compartment for meters and/or control panels so that
readings can be taken with ease.
Blower Kiosks
The MCL Blower Kiosk houses equipment used to supply
pumped air to blower pumps which are used in the treatment
of waste water.
Manufactured to the requirements of the customer, we offer
acoustic vents to reduce the noise that the air blower creates,
essential if the blower pump is situated in a highly populated
area. We can offer additional ventilation if required.

MCC Kiosk and chamber
The MCL MCC Kiosk is designed to house and protect Motor
Control Centres. Available certified to LPCB SR3 and SR4, the
MCC Kiosk is a low maintenance, long life installation.
Designed and manufactured to
our customers’ specification,
we offer a wide variety of
additional
features,
for
example, forced ventilation and
GRP
cowls
for
weather
protection.
Following consultations with water companies about the challenges of AMP6, MCL considered how the group’s existing range
of composite products could be combined to deliver value to our customers. MCL Utility, supplying the water sector with
GRP kiosks and enclosures, identified an opportunity for MCC kiosks.
Traditionally, the power to a motor control centre is fed
through the top left-hand side of its kiosk or from
underneath through a concrete chamber. Most often the
underground entry method is used due to the problems
associated with overhead cabling.
The MCL solution resolves the issue of civil construction
of a bottom entry concrete chamber by combining
the
TM
kiosk with an MCL Infrastructure RapidSTACK chamber.
The combination offers a unique opportunity for
innovation and standardisation. With a standard width
and depth, the length of the chamber suits the MCC, in
increments of 1m up to 11m long. With both elements of
the package being built off-site, up to two weeks are
saved on site which reduces costs and lowers the risk of
accidents.

The Background: A customer approached MCL to manufacture and install
a sludge thickener kiosk and MCC kiosk for the same project. The scope of
the project was to manufacture and deliver both kiosks.
The Solution: Due to the sludge thickener kiosk being in excess of 6
meters deep it
was delivered flat pack and assembled on site by the MCL Site Installation
Team.
The Result: All ventilation and heating calculations were undertaken by
MCL utilising the data provided by the customer. MCL satisfied all the
relevant Health and Safety Requirements for Site Installation
The Background: MCL received an enquiry from an existing customer
for a GRP kiosk 13.7m x 3.2m x 3.5m. The customer asked for the kiosk to
be delivered flat-packed, assembled on-site, installed then equipped with
various electrical fittings.
The Solution: MCL designed the kiosk and, on reviewing the drawing, it
appeared possible to deliver the kiosk fully equipped prior to installation.
MCL worked closely with a specialist transport company who undertook
their survey which proved that the large kiosk could, indeed, be delivered
in one piece, the customer placed the order.
The Result: This decision reduced the time required on site dramatically,
a much more attractive option for the customer, all manufacturing and
electrical installation was completed at MCL premises enabling
commissioning on the day of installation.

A new MCL customer asked us for a solution to house their lift equipment on a
roof. The kiosk had to conform to building regualtion insulation properties and
be capable of being lifted by crane on to a 5 storey roof top.
The Solution:
o
MCL manufactured a kiosk with a “U” value of 0.15W/m2/ C and had all the
lifting attachment points certificated for the lift.
The Result:
After extensive risk assessment/method statements were undertaken, MCL
delivered and installed this unusually sited kiosk. A mobile crane was used to
lift the kiosk to the roof, the lifting requirements carried out as set out in
BS7121. All necessary certification and health and safety paperwork was
submitted prior to installation which was completed on time.
