YOUR MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE GRADE (MAG) Working out your average GCSE score 1. If you are on a BTEC Introductory/First Diploma or GCSEs your MAGs are in separate tables below: 2. If you are on a BTEC Extended Diploma or A Levels, list all your GCSE subjects and the grades you got. (It is vital that you list EVERY subject, even the ones you’d rather forget about). 3. Each grade is given a point score as in the table below e.g grade B = 6 points, grade E = 3 points. Use this table to get the score for each of your GCSEs and write these numbers in the “Score” column on the form (overleaf). GCSE Points Scores A* GCSE 8 A 7 B 6 C 5 D 4 E 3 F 2 G 1 4. Once all your scores have been recorded, add up the total figure. 5. Divide this total figure by the number of GCSEs you have taken 6. You should now have a number roughly between 3.2 and 8.2. This is your Average GCSE Score.
