Introduction into Private Law in SEE (with Conf. Dr. Radu Catanã)
The introduction to private law in South Eastern Europe will focus on the countries Slovenia,
Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Hungary. As to the content, we will focus on the
law of obligations and the right in rem. This module wants to give the students an idea of the
developments of civil law in the countries mentioned above. We will get to know the different
private law systems through a practical approach. While studying the two main areas chosen
for this course (the law of obligations and the right in rem), we will pay special attention to
the legal tradition and culture as well as to the legal approximation to EU law. Current legal
issues as well as the “legal reality” will also be topics of the course.
