Join us and meet Dr. Bill Logan, Jr. as he addresses how vascular disease (atherosclerosis) is usually involved in dementia. He’ll also discuss the best dementia prevention strategies based on research, which are diet, particularly the Mediterranean diet, and physical activity. Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to meet Dr. Logan, a long-time physician in Greenville, who is board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Care. He has been serving seniors in the upstate since 2002. His passion is innovative, compassionate, and senior-focused primary care for patients. Your thyroid gland is a small structure in your neck that plays a huge role in your health. This important gland produces hormones that are essential to the proper functioning of vital organs such as your brain, heart, kidneys, and liver. Among other things, these hormones play key roles in metabolism – the process by which you get energy from food. As we age, we’re more likely to develop thyroid disorders. In addition to being more common with age, thyroid problems are more common in women than men and they also tend to run in families. Join us and meet Dr. J. Kyle Horton, when he will discuss the effects of aging on thyroid health and bone health. He will also discuss the challenges of diabetes during the aging process. William C. The registration process for LifeWise programs and events has also been changed. Follow these steps to find LifeWise and register for programs and events: Member Milestones • Click on the tab for Community Commitment and scroll down to click on “LifeWise Senior Program.” • You’ll see information about LifeWise membership and you can direct people you’ve recruited to complete the membership application and complete the payment process. • If you click to the right on LifeWise Events, you’ll be able to find upcoming LifeWise programs, seminars or events and you can register, and if there’s a fee, pay for them here. Happy Belated Birthday to Margie Crowley, who celebrated her 80th Birthday on June 16! • Alternatively you can register and pay for events if you click on the tab Patients & Visitors and then Classes & Events. • Use the drop down box for Category and choose LifeWise/Senior Events; then click Search to find the program/event that you want. • You will be able to register more than one person at a time for any of the events as you register yourself. Just click the + (plus sign) on the right, next to the number of participants to change it. • NOTE: You must register for one event at a time. There is no shopping cart at this time. If you encounter problems with the new registration process, please call LifeWise at 864-675-4303. We will walk you through the steps to complete your registrations. 1 4 | S E P T E M B E R - O C TO B E R 2 01 6 Congratulations & Best Wishes to Eileen & Leo Hofmeister celebrating their 55th Wedding Anniversary & Leo’s 80th Birthday on Oct. 7, 2016!
