You’ll work as part of our Discrete Automation and Motion team, which engineers robotics, motors, generators, drives, wind converters, solar inverters, voltage regulators, fast DC chargers, and more. Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Grow ABB’s PLC automation products and solutions market share through attracting new customers and by strengthening partnerships with existing customers. • Meet or exceed assigned growth budget in targeted industries. • Grow the PLC automation business and expand customer base at a pace faster than market growth rate within and 1 beyond targeted industries such as food and beverage, water and wastewater, machinery manufacturers, packaging, oil and gas, and energy. • Be the primary commercial and pre-sales technical contact for PLC automation products and solutions (PLC, HMI, Software and Motion). • Coordinate technical questions related to product during the pre- and post-sales phases.# • Arrange and help in the execution and development of all needed training for the sales channel. • Work in close cooperation with the local sales team on specific marketing activities in the region. • Drive and assist sales activities within assigned geographic area (area management) and/or specific original equipment manufacturers (OEM; key account management) by conveying the value proposition of ABB’s portfolio of PLC automation products and solutions. • Work closely with assigned district sales offices and district sales resources, including authorized industrial automation channel partners, to develop and grow the targeted business segment(s) as well as identify and target new OEM accounts, Programmable Logic Controllers Business Developer - Southeast Region system integrators, and high-tech channel partners. • Have and maintain a continual list of OEMs/targeted accounts in a standard form and in accordance with the business unit accepted template. • Develop sales strategy and target account plans to penetrate new opportunities. • Prepare, present, and deliver automation solution proposals that solve the customers needs, utilizing marketing, technical, and commercial resources available. • Follow up on account activities in coordination with the local sales team. • Create pricing proposals and bills of materials in accordance with company procedures. • Negotiate pricing with local sales team and coordinate with global products group to meet market requirements. • Work to define the sales budget within assigned geographic area and OEM accounts. • Develop strong relationships within the local products group and sales organization as well as with the global products group and external customers. • Provide reports on the actual sales vs. budget within region and given customer base, as well as sales forecasts for production and materials planning.# • Provide input into the business on competition and market pricing in accordance with the Company Integrity and Code of Conduct policy and guidelines. • Facilitate in the development of marketing materials, including success stories, white papers, and customer references. • Travel up to 50%. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business. • 10 years sales, systems integration, and/or application engineering experience in the Industrial automation industry • 10+ years of business development, sales, and systems integration experience with a background in industrial automation solutions focused on PLC, HMI, motion, and associated software interfaces. • Proven track record in exceeding growth targets in competitive markets. • Knowledge of automation, control systems, motion applications, and industrial networking in various industries. • Programming experience in industrial automation and motion systems (PLC, HMI, motion, and related systems), with a knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming standards. • Knowledge of the CODESYS programming platform. • Experience with SIL3 applications and safety PLC systems. • Experience with PLC platforms such as ABB, Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, GE, Schneider, Beckhoff, or B&R.
