In order to prevent the explosions due to humidity absorption deterioration, the major faults that are generated at the existing porcelain-type lightning arrester, winding is done using FRP insulators. The interface between the FRP insulator and high-molecular rubber housing is treated and both ends of polymer-type lightning arrester are air-tightened using the cap. It is a product made up of high-molecular materials so that the polymer-type lightning arrester does not spatter when exploded. E2-2 VITZROTECH Features It is designed and manufactured based on the accumulated experiences and actual test evaluation. It is superior in preventing the moisture absorption since its air-tightening is excellent. It is light-weighted (2.4kg) when compared to the porcelain-type lightning arrester. It prevents secondary accidents (fragment scattering and etc.) when it explodes due to internal temperature rise and expansion of arc resulting from the transient fault current. It is safe since the disconnector is a resistance-type. Creeping leakage distance is 645mm or more. It used an insulated rubber cover that does not allow the rain to penetrate to the upper terminal part. It is largely divided into Coil Type and Resistance Type. The coil type has the element to change the residual voltage and waveform in case of the residual voltage input and the resistance type maintains the stable residual voltage and waveform. Our firm adopted the resistance type disconnector with higher reliability. The following table represents the characteristic test result on disconnecting time-current curve of the disconnector. The sintered body with the zinc oxide as the main ingredient (ZnO element) contacts about 5~10㎛ ZnO crystal particle to the highresistance layer which consists of 0.1㎛ Bi2O3 and ZnO sintered particle is in contact with each other with the thin film in between. The specific resistance of ZnO sintered particle is far smaller than that of the boundary layer so when the high voltage is applied to both sides of element, most voltages will be trapped in the boundary layer and it generates current multiplication which results in ideal non-linear voltage-current characteristic. In case of SiC-element, large amount of“A” current flows in the rated voltage to ground and when used continuously, thermal destruction will occur. So, the Gap Type that uses SiC element should insulate the rated voltage to ground using the serial gap and not allow the current to flow. However, ZnO element has an excellent resistance characteristic so less ㎂ of current flows which requires no serial gap.
