Course A in all probability will not open for the 2016-2017 Season. This will cause some league scheduling problems. Please bear with us on resolving schedule conflicts. New sod has been laid on greens in B and C and currently you can play out on temporary greens set up for daily use. SUNDAY OCT 2 ND 2016 LANDSCAPING HIGHLIGHT Some tree removal has been done for the pickle ball court. The landscape department is providing some of the branches for the local raptors to use if they want them for nest building. Waste not these valuable resources. Terry Parker GM Golf Course UPDATED RENOVATIONS –Bathhouse #1 is open for use. It is very nice and here is a preview of the newly renovated Bath House #1 Both side were done but this is a view of the ladies side only. Eagle nesting season has started again though most eagle pairs are just returning. This picture was from a few years back when our local pair had two very big babies to feed. Right now most eagles are reworking their old nests or starting from scratch on a new nest. The new Race Trac Gas Station is open 24hrs per day. Visited today really nice inside with a coffee bar, fresh baked goods, and other prepared foods –located on US 98 just south of Sanlan’s entrance across from Polk State College. Check it out for gas, convenience and last minute sundry needs. SANLAN BIRD AND WILDLIFE SANCTUARY –Will be working on the Garden soon to rid it of all of the invasive grasses that have sprung up over the summer. The firebush is huge, the plumbago’s are in bloom, and the passion vines are blooming and being eaten by the caterpillars. Hope to have it all revitalized with some assistance in the next month or so. Sadly former residents Clayton Roberts died on June 24, 2016 and we also learned that Joe Regier passed away on August the 4th, 2016. We were recently informed that Joan Elizabeth Way passed away on August 28th, 2016 in her home state of Michigan surrounded by her entire family. Just in, guest Doug Aitken of Forest Ont. has passed away in the month of August on the 31st. Please keep all of these Sanlan Families in your continued prayers... This is a common courtesy to all involved. SAFETY AND SECURITY CHECKS (Inspections) will be conducted on all enclosed trailers upon check-in and check-out. PARK RULES Please understand that all Vehicles, Trailers, RVs, and Cars are required to be fully licensed and insured. These vehicles also need to have their up to date registration and current license tag in order to be allowed to stay on Sanlan property including in RVP. GOLF CART SAFETY– Remember when you are driving a golf cart that pedestrians have the right of way. Please be safe and keep speeds and attention focused on the road or trails. At night be sure your golf carts lights are in good working order. Nature trail areas can be a bit bumpy so slow the speed here. Please be aware that if you bring your own golf cart into Sanlan for your use that knobby tires are not allowed on the Nature Trails or Golf Course. POOL ETIQUETTE- Please no climbing or hanging on the divider marker rope between shallow end and deep end. If it breaks due to damage, the pool must be closed until its repaired or replaced. FLORIDA BICYCLE LAWS– 2016 You must wear an approved bicycle helmet if you are under the age of 16. You must obey all traffic laws If you ride on the street you must ride with the flow of traffic. If you ride on the sidewalk you must yield to pedestrians and you must give an audio signal before passing them. Only the number of people may ride on a bike as there are manufactured seats for them. At Night, you must have a white light on the front of your bike and a red light on the back. Also remember that if your hear thunder the pool is closed until 1/2 hour after all thunder and lightning have ceased. In the case of winter weather we monitor the temperatures every morning. If the pools are too cold they may remain closed until they warm up. A few alligators have been removed around the park due to their behavioral issues created by visitors fishing activity that was providing them bait and left over food. Please don’t allow your pets too much lead –for their safety they should not be taken down to the water’s edge. Remember there are alligators of all sizes in our waterways all year long. THE LITTLE BLUE HERON –A state of Florida species of special concern, the little blue is a beautiful small wading bird. During mating season the birds sport a dark red head and during the off season their head and neck appear purplish. Incubation is done by both sexes for 20-23 days.
