A Global Leader in
Silicon-Based Technology
and Innovation
Established in 1943 to explore and develop the potential of
the silicon atom for commercial applications, Dow Corning
Corporation is a global leader in silicon-based technology and
innovation. And, with many decades of silicone rubber innovation
experience, we have a broad line of liquid silicone rubbers (LSRs)
offer proven, effective solutions to help you meet a diverse range
of application needs. This selection guide provides important
details about these LSRs and is designed to help you make the
right choice for your application requirements.
LSR SELECTION GUIDE
Dow Corning:
3
LSR Types, Benefits and Key Features
Potential LSR Applications
Dow Corning’s portfolio of liquid silicone rubber
includes specific LSR formulations, marketed
under the Dow Corning®, Silastic® and XIAMETER®
brands. Injection-molding grades, coating grades
and specialty grades are available to help improve
manufacturing efficiency with:
• Automated processing
• Increased output
• Reduced scrap
• Energy savings
A sampling of industries and applications
includes:
• Automotive seals, gaskets,
grommets, spark plug boots
• Airbag coating and sealing
• Electrical insulator coating, wire
sleeving and weatherseals
• Electronic device keypads,
imaging rollers, gaskets/seals
• Kitchenware and hand tools
• Healthcare devices and components
• Fabric and textile coatings
• Baby care bottle nipples, pacifiers,
teething rings
• Optical lens and LED lighting
These two-part (1:1 mix ratio, unless otherwise
noted), easily mixed and quickly heat-cured LSR
materials can help extend design possibilities
for small parts, intricate designs, high precision
and over-molding. Key features of cured LSRs
include good mechanical properties and excellent
resistance to weathering, extreme temperatures
and aging. Fluoro liquid silicone rubber (F-LSR)
combines excellent fuel and oil resistance with
LSR processing economy.
Dow Corning can provide expert help
recommending the right LSR for your
application, collaborate to develop custom
LSR formulations, and provide broad
technical service and support.

F-LSRs
Silastic® brand F-LSRs are designed for use in harsh environments involving fuel, oil or aggressive fluids. With xx = durometer hardness, these F-LSRs
are available in two grades: fully (100%) fluorinated Silastic® FL xx-9201 Series and partially (40%) fluorinated Silastic® FL xx-9001 Series. These F-LSRs
combine the fluid resistance of fluorosilicone rubber with the processing ease of liquid silicone rubber using standard injection-molding equipment.

Self-Adhesive LSRs
Developed by Dow Corning, XIAMETER® RBL-9694 Series LSRs are self-adhesive silicone elastomers for making integrated compression seals,
which are automatically or manually dispensed and cured directly on automotive or other industrial components. The LSR products provide durometer
hardness options to meet different clamping-force requirements for proper sealing performance.
