Innovative Solutions for Parastomal Hernia Repair
Parietex™ Parastomal Mesh is the only monofilament polyester mesh
for parastomal hernia repair available. Designed for both direct and
indirect techniques, Parietex™ Parastomal Mesh is designed with input
from surgeons and with patient comfort in mind.
Procedural-Specific Designs With Proven Pre-Clinical Advantages
• Works with the body’s natural systems to improve tissue integration
while reducing negative foreign material response.
• Offers superior porosity, reducing bridging fibrosis, which may support
patient comfort.
Minimizes Attachments
For Indirect Techniques
• Dual-sided central band protects the viscera on one side
and the bowel and newly formed ostomy on the other.
• Lateral sides of the mesh are coated on one side to protect
the viscera and to allow tissue ingrowth on the uncoated side.
• Coated outside diameter protects against adhesion to
the underlying viscera.
2D Monofilament Polyester
• ParietexTM
Parastomal Mesh
fixed to porcine
abdominal
wall with
absorbable tacks
(AbsorbaTackTM
5mm Fixation
Device).
Monofilament Polyester
• Fast, strong tissue integration of ParietexTM Parastomal Mesh, when
combined with the AbsorbaTackTM fixation device, results in reduced
foreign material for improved patient comfort.
3D Monofilament Polyester
Operative
Postoperative—1 Week
• No adhesion to
the dual-coated
2D portion that
protects the viscera
and the newly
formed ostomy.
• Integration starts
on the uncoated
parietal side of
the mesh.
• No adhesion after
1 week on the
coated visceral
side of the mesh.
• There are no
adhesions to the
absorbable tacks
(AbsorbaTackTM
5mm Fixation
Device).
1 – Hydrophilic Absorbable Film: Studies report that the ideal adhesion prevention barrier is resorbable, not permanent.*
New Mesothelium layer forms in 5 to 8 days* when the mesothelial cells are in contact with the film, they proliferate.

For Direct Techniques
Abdominal Wall
• Mesh is fully coated on one side to protect the viscera while
the uncoated abdominal side promotes fast tissue ingrowth.
• Coated inside diameter protects against adhesion to the newly formed
ostomy while the coated outside diameter protects against adhesion
to the underlying viscera.
Procedural-Specific Design
• Polyester material and knit design promote fast tissue ingrowth,
flexibility and biocompatibility.
• Designed for procedures where fast tissue ingrowth and protection
against adhesion are needed for the specific anatomy.
• Available in a full range for direct and indirect techniques.
3D mesh construction:
2 –Monofilament Polyester (PET) superficial thread
3 –Monofilament Polyester (PET) deep threads
Active tissue ingrowth: 3D polyester mesh enhances ingrowth
Postoperative—1 Month
• The 2D band
has little to
no connective
tissue ingrowth
between the
abdominal wall
and the mesh.
• The uncoated side
of the 3D lateral
wings are fully
integrated into
the abdominal
wall.
• No adhesion after
1 month on the
coated visceral
side of the mesh.
• There are no
adhesions to the
absorbable tacks
(AbsorbaTackTM
5mm Fixation
Device).
2D mesh construction:
4 – Monofilament Polyester (PET) threads
* Differentiated tissue ingrowth
1 – Continuous neo-peritoneum: Neo-peritoneum is highly vascularized, covered by mesothelium.
