Ref Number: 4001 Policy Purpose To ensure: 


ServiceIQ’s external moderation responsibilities as a Standard Setting Body (SSB) are carried out. ServiceIQ meets NZQA’s quality assurance standards. ServiceIQ complies with the moderation requirements of other Standard Setting Bodies. Application This ServiceIQ Quality Policy applies to all ServiceIQ employees involved in Quality Assurance (specifically pre‐moderation and (external) post‐moderation). ServiceIQ policies will be reviewed and amended as necessary. Definitions 
External Moderation is the process of checking assessment practices across all organisations who assess against unit standards for which ServiceIQ has responsibility as the SSB. This includes: ServiceIQ, schools, PTEs, ITPs and ITOs (organisations that hold consent to assess for ServiceIQ standards) o Pre‐assessment Moderation is the process of checking assessments before use to ensure the assessment meets the national standard; is fair, valid and consistent. o Post assessment Moderation is the process of checking the marking of the assessment to ensure this meets the national standard; and is fair, valid and consistent. In addition, the process includes all forms of evidence used in making the judgement, including the use of verification. Post moderation can be done by distance or on‐site when materials are requested. Policy 


Assessment materials, for which ServiceIQ is the SSB, must be pre‐moderated to ensure they meet the national standard. ServiceIQ will implement a national external moderation system in accordance with the registered Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR) document and will document and report on its activities. ServiceIQ will use feedback from moderation to inform revision and review of its unit standards. ServiceIQ will evaluate and review its moderation systems and the moderation information sections of its CMRs on an annual basis and if required our own products. Related Documents 
