Where is the RAO?
The Rothney Astrophysical Observatory (RAO) is located near Priddis (Alberta), about 30km southwest of the Calgary city
center. It is less than an hour's drive from the University of Calgary (U of C).




Take Macleod Trail South
After passing Midnapore, turn right onto Highway 22X (this is the Marquis of Lorne Avenue), heading west
towards the mountains
Continue past Spruce Meadows, past 37th St, past 69th St, and 83rd St, to a major intersection where highway
22X meets highway 22 (this interscecion is illuminated after dark)
Turn left toward Millarville (heading south). About 2km down highway 22, look for the big RAO roadsign on the
right side of the road. Just beyond the sign, turn left and follow the gravel road up the hill to the parking area
