Creating and Grading a File
Response Question Test
START POINT: To post assessment items, you must be in a course shell.
STEP 1:

Select Assignments from the course menu on the left
of the Bb 9.0 screen.
Select “Test” from the “Create Assessment” menu.
STEP 3:

Click on the “Create” button.
Fill in test details: Name, Description, Instructions. Click
Submit.
STEP 5:
STEP 6:
Click on the “Create Question”
button and select file response
from the list.
Enter your question text.
If the item you are
creating should go in
a folder within the
content area, make
sure you are in the
folder first, then
follow Step 2
instructions.
STEP 7:
Click submit.
You can’t attach files here.
You will have to put a folder
in the main "assignments"
area with required files and
instruct students to go there
to get the file(s) they need
before they submit the file via
this test.
STEP 8:
Add another question, or click “ok” if you are done entering questions. Move to step 9 when you are done entering
questions.

STEP 9:
Assign point values to each question. By default each question will be worth 10 points.There are several ways to
alter the point values for your test questions:
Update All Questions at once: If you want all questions to be worth the same amount (eg. 1 point) click on
which will place a “check” beside each question, then enter the point value you would like all questions to be in
the
field, then click
.
Update All Questions of the same type at once: If you want all questions of a certain type (eg. Multiple
Choice) to be worth the same number of points, while other question types will be worth other point values you
can update the point values by the question type. Click on the drop down menu beside “Question Type”, select
the type of question you want to update the point value for, enter the point value you want in the points field
, then click
Update one or more random Questions at a time: If you want to update the point value for a single question, or
for a group of questions that aren’t the same question type, you click on the
beside each question you want to
update, then enter the point value in the points field
Once you’re done updating point values, click

STEP 10:
Click on the name of the test you just created and then click “Submit”
STEP 11:
Set up the “Test Options”. You have many options here. Be sure to select “make link available” if you want students to be
able to view/take the test.
Under the "test feedback" section make sure you select "feedback" so that you can provide feedback to students once
they've completed the test - this is the only way you will be able to efficiently show feedback to students about their file
submission without sending them a direct email.
STEP 12:
Click submit.

Grading the file submission test:
STEP 1:

Select “Grade
from the control
on the left of the
screen.

submission test column (which was automatically
created when you created the test).
STEP 3:
Click on the exclamation point icon for the student

Under the Attempts section, click “Open Attempt”.

You will see a summary of the grade you just assigned. Click
on the bottom right corner and this takes you
back to the grade center so that you can mark the next student's assignment.
