E. James Mulcahy ’66 Managing Director/Complex Manager (Retired) Morgan Stanley Mr. E. James Mulcahy is Managing Director/Complex Manager at Morgan Stanley, where he is responsible for the oversight of four businesses with assets under management totaling $24B. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2009, Mr. Mulcahy was Managing Director/Resident Manager for Smith Barney’s Citigroup headquarters office, where he oversaw four businesses: Domestic Private Client, International Private Client, Middle Markets Fixed Income, and Equities. He also held other roles for Smith Barney from 1983 to 2001, including Senior Vice President and Resident Manager in New York City, where he was responsible for sales, administration, recruitment, and retention; and, Vice President and Resident Manager in Boston. Mr. Mulcahy spent the bulk of his early career in marketing and account services positions. He was an Account Executive and Assistant Branch Manager for Dean Witter in Boston, where he achieved overall ranking of Top Trainee in a class of 35 for two consecutive years. He also worked for Polaroid Corporation, as Senior Marketing Manager and, before that, as a National Customer Service Manager. Mr. Mulcahy received a B.A. from Providence College in 1966 and an MBA from Boston College in 1970. He currently serves as Chairman for the Board of Overseers for Providence College, and is a member of the Providence College School of Business Advisory Council. He also served in various capacities as a Member of the Board of Trustees for Providence College from 2000 to 2008.
