Use only with other SIMPLY5 system components and fixtures.
Wall station is a low voltage device; warranty void if connected to line voltage.
Only use lamps listed on ballast label. Linear fluorescent lamps must be used with rapid start sockets.
Lamps must be burned in at full intensity for 24 hours prior to dimming for proper dimming performance.
Recommended minimum wall box depth is 2-1/2”.
Use this device with COPPER OR COPPER CLAD WIRE ONLY.
In the standard SIMPLY5 configuration (no “HW” option), all components
are shipped with Reloc modular wiring connectors. All power and signal
connections for each component are made in a single plug-in connector.
The connectors are color-coded: Blue connectors are used for all
connections in a room, like the lights, wall stations and any sensors.
The S5W wall station connector can be connected at any light fixture on the
zone that it is controlling or at the Intelligent Junction Box blue connector.
For 3-way and 4-way applications, simply connect all stations to the wiring

PUSH PAD:
• Lights are currently OFF: Tap to turn ON the lights to their last state.
• Lights are currently ON: Tap to turn OFF the lights.
• Lights are currently ON and the system has warned of an
impending automatic OFF (amber locator LED is blinking): Tap to
override the automatic OFF for 2 hours. The system will warn again at
the end of the two hours prior to turning the lights OFF.
• Lights are currently ON: Press and hold the push pad to enter Quiet
Time Mode. The Brightness Display LED will blink after 3 seconds
confirming that Quiet Time Mode has been entered. If an occupancy
sensor is being used in this room, Quiet Time Mode disables the sensor
for one hour. If an occupancy sensor is not being used, entering Quiet
Time Mode will not affect the operation of the system. This mode is
typically used in classrooms to keep the lights ON during periods of
inactivity, such as during a test or nap time.
RAISE/LOWER BAR:
• While lights are ON: Use the right half of the bar (^) to raise the light
level. Press and release the right half of the bar (^) to raise the lights by
one step, press and hold to ramp up the lights. Use the left half of the bar
(v) to lower the light level. Press and release the left half of the bar (v) to
lower the lights by one step, press and hold to ramp down the lights. The
Raise/Lower bar will only adjust the current level of the lights.
• While the lights are OFF: Tap either the right or left to display the level
to which the lights will turn ON when the Push Pad is pressed (LEDs
remain lit for 3 seconds after last button press). While the LEDs are lit,
the Raise/Lower Bar may be used to change this level without turning
ON the lights.
AMBER LOCATOR LED:

1. Press and hold the Push Pad and the right half of the Raise/Lower Bar
(^) for 5 seconds until the Locator LED begins to blink green.
2. Upon releasing the push pad, the locator LED will blink one green pulse
per second indicating programming step number 1.
3. Set Configuration Group number for this room by using the Raise/Lower
Bar to light the LED for the corresponding Configuration Group. No LEDs
for Configuration Group 0, LED # 1 for Configuration Group 1 …, LED # 7
for Configuration Group 7, as shown in figure 2.
4. Tap the push pad to change to step 2. The locator LED will blink 2 short
green pulses per second.
5. The system normally warns the occupants of an impending automatic
OFF by blinking the lights 5 minutes before it turns them OFF. This
warning blink can be disabled by pressing the left half of the Raise/Lower
Bar (v). LED 1 ON = enable warn, LED 1 OFF = disable warn.
6. If multiple control zones are being used in this room, the wall station may
be configured to either control only the zone to which it is connected
(normal function), or to control all of the zones in the room as a ’master’
switch. Set this switch as master or zone switch by using the right half of
the Raise / Lower Bar (^). LED 7 ON = master switch, LED 7 OFF = zone
switch.
7. Tap the push pad to change to step 3. The locator LED will blink 3 short
green pulses per second if in step 3.
Note that if a S5LEM is installed, the Configuration Group for this room
must be set so that motion sensors are Configured Locally under the
Advanced Setup menu for this step to be accessible. If any other setting
has been programmed for motion sensor function at the S5LEM, step 3
will be skipped and the station will exit setup mode and save the settings.
If step 3 is skipped, the locator LED will flash 4 short red pulses.
8. If a motion sensor is being used in this room, the system will normally
function so that the lights must be turned on manually but will turn off
automatically. This can be changed to automatic on / automatic off by
using the Raise / Lower Bar: press the right half of the bar (^) for auto on
/ auto off operation; press the left half of the bar (v) for manual on / auto
off operation.
9. Tap the push pad to exit the programming mode and save the settings.
The station will also exit out of programming mode automatically after 3
minutes of inactivity.
Manual setup is typically NOT required for proper photocell operation.
However, for situations where greater control over daylight harvesting
operation is desired, a Scale Factor feature and manual photocell
calibration process are available if a wall station is installed on the
daylight harvesting zone. Note that the Daylight Harvesting Setup mode
can be disabled at the S5LEM, through the Advanced Setup menu. If
the Daylight Harvesting Setup has been disabled, the station will blink
the locator LED with 4 short red flashes and return to normal operation
when someone attempts to enter the setup mode.
The Scale Factor allows the installer to adjust the systemsʼ response to
sensed ambient light. This feature is typically used for rooms in which
the light level on the ceiling does not accurately represent the light level
on the working surfaces in the room (for example, when a large amount
of sunlight is being reflected off of a white concrete pad outside the
room). As the Scale Factor setting is lowered, changes in the sensed
ambient light in the space will have less effect on the electric light level;
as it is raised, changes in the sensed ambient light in the space will
have more effect on the electric light level.
Scale Factor Setup:
1. Press and hold the Push Pad and the left half of the Raise/Lower
Bar (v) for 5 seconds until the Locator LED begins to blink. If the
setup mode is disabled, the locator LED will flash red 4 times and the
station will return to normal operation.
2. The zone lights will flash 3 times indicating Daylight Harvesting Setup
Mode is active. The bargraph will indicate the current Scale Value.
3. Use the Raise/Lower bar to set the Scale Factor from 1 to 7.
4. Press & release the paddle switch once more to exit the Daylight
Harvesting Setup Mode and save the settings. The zone lights will
flash 3 times indicating the system has exited.
The system will typically calibrate the photocell input automatically over
the course of a normal day of operation. The system will begin dimming
the lights in response to daylight once the photocell has calibrated. If
the furnishings in the room have changed siginificantly since the system
was installed (for example, if carpet has been installed) or if the photcell
needs to be calibrated more quickly for testing purposes, a manual
calibration procedure is available.
Manual Photocell Calibration:
Note: the photocell calibration procedure should only be performed
after the controlled lights have been on at 100% for at least 20
minutes, allowing the lamps to fully warm up.
3. To begin the Photocell Calibration procedure, press and hold the
paddle switch until the bargraph LED begins to flash, approximately
3 seconds. The zone lights will flash off and then back on once to
indicate calibration mode is active, then they will be set to 100% for
approximately 30 seconds. While at full, the LED brightness display
will blink sequentially from left to right. After this time interval ends,
the zone lights will then turn off for 5 seconds. While off, the LED
brightness display will blink sequentially from right to left.
4. Once the Photocell Calibration procedure is complete, the zone lights
will blink off and then back on once more to indicate the end of the
procedure.
5. Press & release the paddle switch once more to exit the Daylight
Harvesting Setup Mode and save the settings. The zone lights will
flash 3 times indicating the system has exited.
