Operating Instructions and Testing
To reset unit:
2. The power available neon will light up and the window above
the light will change from ‘0’ to ‘1’.
In the interest of safety, this product must be installed by a
licensed electrician or warranty will become void.
1. Firmly push ‘Press to Reset’ button.
Electricity can be dangerous - the use of this product cannot be
regarded as a substitute for basic electrical safety precautions.
1. LINE terminals MUST be wired with incoming supply wires.
IMPORTANT: The RCD is designed to AS/NZS3190 for mains
power applications. Clipsal recommends evaluation of the supply
quality when using portable DC to AC inverters for suitability.
Contact your Clipsal Representative for further details.
NOTE: Continuation loop terminals MUST NOT be wired with
incoming supply wires. Wrong positioning of wires will DESTROY
UNIT and VOID WARRANTY.
NOTE: If there are two or more sets of cables, Earth leakage
protection is required in continuing circuits, Active and Neutral
supply cables MUST be separated from other Active/s and
Neutral/s by testing circuit with meter or test lamp.
2. COMMON EARTH terminal for both supply and
continuation cables
3. When the Clipsal Lifesaver Power Outlet is installed at
the beginning of a circuit and wired using the continuation
terminals, all outlets after the unit will be safety switch
(RCD) protected.
4. When the Clipsal Lifesaver Power Outlet is installed as a
replacement outlet (ensuring it is wired only at LINE terminals)
only the unit is safety switch (RCD) protected.
5. When the Clipsal Lifesaver Power Outlet is installed into an
existing circuit and wired using the continuation terminals, all
outlets after the unit will be safety switch (RCD) protected.
NOTE: When the neon is illuminated and ‘1’ is visible further
operation of the ‘Press to Reset’ button will have no effect.
To test unit:
1. Firmly push ‘Press to Test’ button.
2. The power available neon will go out and the ‘1’ will change to
‘0’ in the window.
NOTE: When the unit is tested it fully checks the operation of the
Clipsal Lifesaver Power Outlet by introducing an actual leakage
signal into the detection mechanism.
The Clipsal Lifesaver Power Outlet is a safety device and should
be checked once a month.
Before Connecting Appliance into Unit
1. Check to ensure ‘1’ is visible.
2. If so, insert three-pin plug, switch on and use appliance.
3. When ‘0’ is visible press ‘Reset’ button.
4. Once ‘1’ becomes visible insert three-pin plug, switch on and
use appliance.
NOTE: Outlets before the unit will NOT be protected.
6. RCD incorporates a double pole 20 amp isolating switch.
7. Fuse or circuit breakers on the switchboard must be
20 amp maximum.

Warranty
1. The benefits conferred herein are in addition to, and in no way
shall be deemed to derogate; either expressly or by implication,
any or all other rights and remedies in respect to the Clipsal
product, which the consumer has under the Commonwealth
Trade Practices Act or any other similar State or Territory Laws.
2. The warrantor is Schneider Electric (Australia) Pty Ltd of 33-37
Port Wakefield Road, Gepps Cross, SA 5094. With registered
offices in all Australian States.
3. This Clipsal product is guaranteed against faulty workmanship
and materials for a period of two (2) years from the date of
installation. Warranty excludes any user replaceable parts.
4. Schneider Electric (Australia) Pty Ltd reserves the right, at its
discretion, to either repair free of parts and labour charges,
replace or offer refund in respect to any article found to be faulty
due to materials, parts or workmanship.
5. This warranty is expressly subject to the Clipsal product being
installed, wired, tested, operated and used in accordance with
the manufacturer’s instructions.
6. All costs of a claim shall be met by Schneider Electric
(Australia) Pty Ltd, however should the product that is the
subject of the claim be found to be in good working order all
such costs shall be met by the claimant.
7. When making a claim the consumer shall forward the Clipsal
Product to the nearest office of Schneider Electric (Australia)
Pty Ltd with adequate particulars of the defect within 28 days
of the fault occurring. The product should be returned securely
packed, complete with details of the date and place of purchase,
description of load, and circumstances of malfunction.
