The 2015 Fall Leadership Institute is open to all workers, union or non-union members and leaders from a variety of
organizations to learn together about new ideas, strategies and skills to meet the needs and challenges facing workers in our
ever-changing workplaces. We welcome participants from all cultural or ethnic backgrounds and genders.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
REGISTRATION cost is $395.00. Registration and payment should reach us by October 30, 2015. Ford, Chrysler, and GM
E/TAP programs are active and cover most of the cost. If using Tuition Assistance, apply for $335 tuition; you or your local
union must include the $60 meal payment with your registration (meal payment is mandatory for all registrants).
TIME AND DATES: Check-in is Friday, November 13, from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. The program starts promptly at 8:30 a.m. Friday
and ends at about 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14. Evening meals are on your own.
PLACE: All workshops and general sessions are held at the Fairlane Center, North Building, part of the University of Michigan–
Dearborn campus, at 19000 Hubbard Road, Dearborn, 48126. A letter of confirmation and a tentative agenda will be sent upon
receipt of your registration form and payment.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS: We have reserved a limited number of rooms at the Royal Dearborn Hotel (formerly the Hyatt
Regency) for $109.00 per night + tax. You must confirm and pay for your own reservations. Call 313-592-3622 and mention the
Fall Leadership Institute to ensure the group rate. Cut-off date for hotel room reservations is Friday, October 30, 2015. After
that, reservations will be accepted based on room availability; the special rate may not apply.
CANCELLATION/REFUND: Last date to withdraw for refund is Friday, November 6, 2015. Please note: to be valid, registrants
must call CLCS (313-583-6400) and get a cancellation code from Center staff. Also, no-shows or late cancellations must pay full
price; you will be charged unless you call us by 10/30/15 and get a cancellation code.

Workshop Offerings
1. Building A Winning Team:
Putting together a workplace team that will work together, that will stick together, and that will win together.
This workshop will keep coworkers engaged and motivated.
2. Grievance Handling:
Whether a seasoned pro or brand-new, come to this workshop and dig in. Information requests, writing a proper
grievance, and when to settle, everything you need to know to get justice for your coworkers.
3. Labor Challenges, Working Solutions:
It’s a new world at work – new challenges, new rules, new realities. This workshop will look at the big picture, through
the prism of what works and what workers are doing about our changing work lives.
4. Effective Committees:
We all know about the Grievance Committee, the Bargaining Committee and the Executive Committee, but there is other
important work to be done, such as Civil Rights, Community Service, and Veterans’ Affairs. Let’s do it.
5. Run Your Meetings Like a ParPro:
Remember your first meeting? Yeah, we were confused, too. This class will put you in front, running a meeting like a
(Par) pro. Knowing Parliamentary Procedure will give you the confidence you need for the next meeting.
