Proceedings of 9th Asian Business Research Conference 20-21 December, 2013, BIAM Foundation, Dhaka, Bangladesh ISBN: 978-1-922069-39-9 Enhancing Community Capacity to Developed Literate Environment through Strengthens Community Learning Centers Musa.Rahima Begum Context: Studies have found that community based organization, CLCs (Community learning Centre) in the villages of Bangladesh are contributing in enhancing literacy skill, leadership skill, and engaging people in economic activities through providing household level support. Methods: This study analyzed the MIS data base of 691 CLCs, Maturity assessment data of 1oo CLCs from these 691 CLCs, training database. This study also adopted FGDs, case study and personal interview. Reports of the various studies on these CLCs were also explicitly reviewed. Univariate and Bivariate analysis was performed to examine the impact of CLCs in the communities. Results: More than 600 CLCs are now functioning in order to generate grassroots-based interest and participation in literacy and continuing education in the programme areas of the Jonoshilon project of an local NGO, Friends in Village Development, Bangladesh. Community people are receiving education and training through. A literate environment is created in the villages through primary education, adolescent, adult literacy, continue education libraries. Community integrity is increasing and hence community awareness raising towards social problem, political and economic activities. Unemployment, dowry, early marriage etc social problem are now discussing in a forum and collective initiative are taking to resolute these types of problems. Community people are receiving leadership development and livelihood Enhancement training. Trained and skill people are actively leading these community based organization. People are engaging in income generating activities. Women voice rising and they also empowered through CLC activities.
