Dublin Presentation Brothers (Anglo-Irish Province) Description of the employer The Presentation Brothers is a Roman Catholic Congregation of religious brothers founded by Blessed Edmund Rice in Waterford in 1802. The Brothers are present today in Ireland, England, Canada, United States, Ghana, Nigeria, and the West Indies. The Congregation is divided into three Provinces. Each Province takes responsibility for its own life and mission in response to the direction of the Congregation Leadership Team. The current vacancy is with the Anglo-Irish Province. The Anglo-Irish Province includes eight Brothers’ communities in Ireland, one Brothers’ community in England, a vibrant Youth Ministry Office in Cork, a well established Communications Office in Dublin and several other ministries and outreaches. Mission The mission of the Presentation Brothers is “forming Christ in the young”. This is our charism – it is the reason our Congregation exists. Background to the Role Evangelisation of the young is at the heart of our mission as a religious congregation. As Brothers, we have traditionally sought to achieve this by classroom-based teaching. However, these times call for a new approach. We already have a number of evangelisation projects in operation. For example, our house in Dublin is the home of “Mondays at the Monastery”, a programme aimed at helping participants to deepen their faith. Our Dublin house also hosts the well-known Alpha programme. We also run occasional outreach programmes such as Fr Robert Barron’s “Catholicism” DVD series. We are particularly keen on expanding our outreach to young adults, i.e. those in their twenties and thirties. Reporting to Province Leadership Team (PLT) of the Anglo-Irish Province of the Presentation Brothers. Managing The Evangelisation Officer will implement a defined strategy of Evangelisation outreach projects, collaborating with other individuals and organisations as needed. Contract Duration Three year contract commencing on Monday, 7th September 2015 with six month probationary period. Grade and Scale Salary depends on qualifications and experience. Location of Position The Evangelisation Officer will be based at Presentation Brothers, Glasthule, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. Scope of the Role The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop an imaginative and sustainable evangelisation outreach to young adults. This work may involve working outside of traditional office hours, e.g. on evenings and at weekends. Safeguarding Children Policy Key Duties & Responsibilities The Presentation Brothers Child Safeguarding Policy will be adhered to at all times. 1. Develop and deliver a Work Plan for the Evangelisation Office. An initial task will be the establishment of a creative Calendar of Activities for Evangelisation in the Province with the support of relevant stakeholders including the Presentation Brothers Youth Ministry Office in Cork, the Province Vocations Team, the Province Office and the Presentation Brothers Schools Truest (PBST). 2. Managing the internal and external communication of the Province’s message and mission by: Daily editing of Congregation website, www.PresentationBrothers.org, and Facebook page providing both with fresh and engaging content. Assisting Vocations Director with content management of “The Blogging Brother” blog. Arranging the occasional filming of promotional clips for our YouTube channel. Gathering content and editing the “Presentation Connections” newsletter. Preparing content for the regular “Presentation E-letter”. Assisting individual Brothers and communities with communications issues, e.g. preparing public addresses. Drafting press releases for significant moments/events in the life of the Province. 3. The establishment/consolidation of sustainable evangelisation outreaches in Dublin, Cork, Killarney and Waterford. 4. A key member and creative contributor to the Province’s Vocations Strategy Team which delivers ways of promoting vocations to the Presentation Brothers. 5. A committed member and supporter of the Province Safeguarding Committee. 6. An enthusiastic member of the Presentation Family Coordination Committee which maps future collaboration among the different groups composing the network of organisations known as the Presentation Family. 7. Assisting the Province Leader in the day to day running of the Province. This may involve daily morning meetings, assisting at Province events and providing advice and suggestions regarding issues arising. 8. Key member of the Province Secretariat working closely and in harmony with the other Offices of the Anglo-Irish Province in executing the Strategic Plan (2011-2017). 9. Networking & collaborating with local and national evangelisation personnel. Attend conferences and workshops for up-skilling and networking. Continuous building of database of contacts for receipt of Presentation Brothers e-letter. Person Specification – Essential Requirements (E) (E) Qualification A relevant third level qualification with clearly demonstrable in-depth knowledge and commitment to the Catholic faith. (E) Experience Track record of working with young adults in a faith formation context. Ability to organise & advertise events.
