Presentation Brothers (Anglo-Irish Province)
Description of the

The Presentation Brothers is a Roman Catholic Congregation
of religious brothers founded by Blessed Edmund Rice in
Waterford in 1802. The Brothers are present today in Ireland,
England, Canada, United States, Ghana, Nigeria, and the West
Indies.
The Congregation is divided into three Provinces. Each
Province takes responsibility for its own life and mission in
response to the direction of the Congregation Leadership
Team.
The current vacancy is with the Anglo-Irish Province. The
Anglo-Irish Province includes eight Brothers’ communities in
Ireland, one Brothers’ community in England, a vibrant Youth
Ministry Office in Cork, a well established Communications
Office in Dublin and several other ministries and outreaches.
Mission
The mission of the Presentation Brothers is “forming Christ in
the young”. This is our charism – it is the reason our
Congregation exists.
Background to the
Role
Evangelisation of the young is at the heart of our mission as a
religious congregation. As Brothers, we have traditionally
sought to achieve this by classroom-based teaching. However,
these times call for a new approach.
We already have a number of evangelisation projects in
operation. For example, our house in Dublin is the home of
“Mondays at the Monastery”, a programme aimed at helping
participants to deepen their faith. Our Dublin house also hosts
the well-known Alpha programme. We also run occasional
outreach programmes such as Fr Robert Barron’s
“Catholicism” DVD series.
We are particularly keen on expanding our outreach to young
adults, i.e. those in their twenties and thirties.
