THE TORONTO PORT AUTHORITY (the “TPA”) is a federal government business enterprise providing
transportation, distribution, and storage services for cargo and airport operations including ferry services
for the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. The TPA also operates the Outer Harbour Marina, a full service
facility located near the foot of Leslie Street.
PROJECT COORDINATOR (CONTRACT)
This is a contract position, contract duration 6 months contemplated. This position reports to the Director,
Infrastructure, and Planning & Environment. The Project Coordinator plans, organizes and evaluates the
day to day activities associated with procurement and execution of construction projects. Activities
include scheduling, researching, preparation of requests for proposals, and reporting on all aspects of
assigned infrastructure capital projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
 The successful candidate is able to plan and organize the procurement and execution of capital
projects assigned.
 Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist with 5 to 10 years of experience in
project management operations. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of technical training
and experience in construction project management.
 Superior communication skills with excellent spoken and written English
 High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Project software.
 The successful candidate has verbal and numerical ability to prepare and oversee the preparation
of reports, statistics and budgets.
 Self motivated, punctual, meticulous and reliable with an interest in coordinating information to
direct, control and evaluate capital projects.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:









Coordinates infrastructure capital projects through the procurement process, ensures project files
are kept in good condition, up-to-date and readily available.
Coordinates and monitors construction activity for assigned projects, provides a single point of
update for assigned projects to the Director.
Coordinates and monitors construction projects and capital work and takes action to ensure
performance.
Reviews construction inspection reports for projects under construction for “follow up” items and
recommends remediation.
Assists with accounting issues including progress payment requisitions, budget summaries, etc.
Supports the work of the Director and Project Manager, and assists when required with other
capital projects underway.
Identifies project coordination needs and take corrective action to ensure procurement or
construction efficiencies.
Completes and issues reports concerning project progress, construction review and budget
summary.
Coordinates with Airport Management and Security for any work involved with airport
operations, either airside or groundside.






Coordinates with Marine Terminal Management and Security for any work involved with
terminal operations.
Assist with budget preparation and review, prepares purchase orders for various goods and
services required as part of assigned projects. Verifies invoices and processes payment.
Promotes health and safety in the work place.
Assist with the preparation of Airport Capital Assistance Program and other funding applications.
Complies with the Toronto Port Authority policies and procedures
Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the Director, Infrastructure, Planning &
Environment.
WORK LOCATION: Port of Toronto area
WORK SCHEDULE&CONDITIONS:
The position generally works five days, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
This position may be exposed to noise and construction activity around the work area.
Having a vehicle would be a necessity.
