The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminology and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following: a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’. b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker. In this adopted standard, references appear to certain International Standards for which Indian Standards also exist. The corresponding Indian Standards, which are to be substituted in their respective places, are listed below along with their degree of equivalence for the editions indicated: International Standard Corresponding Indian Standard IEC 60050-482, International IS 1885(Part 15):2008 Electrotechnical Electrotechnical Vocabulary – Part Vocabulary – Part 15 : Primary Cells and 482: Primary and secondary cells Batteries and batteries Degree of Equivalence Technical Equivalent IEC 60086 (all parts), Primary IS 6303(All parts):2011 Primary Batteries batteries Technical Equivalent IEC 60086-1 (2006), Primary IS 6303 (Part 1):2011 Primary Batteries: batteries – Part 1: General Part 1 General (Second Revision) (Under print) IEC 60086-2 (2006), Primary IS 6303 (Part 2):2011 Part 2 Physical and batteries – Part 2: Physical and Electrical Specifications (Second electrical specifications Revision)(Under print) do IEC 60410, Sampling plans and IS 10673:1983 Sampling Plans and procedures for inspection by Procedures for Inspection by Attributes for attributes Electronic Items do IEC 62133 Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes – Safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells and for batteries made from them, for use in portable applications Doc ET 116372) Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other nonacid electrolytes – Safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells and for batteries made from them, for use in portable applications do Identical The technical committee responsible for the preparation of this standard has reviewed the provisions of the following International Standards referred to in this adopted standard and has decided that they are acceptable for use in conjunction with this standard: International Standard IEC 61959 Title Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes – Mechanical tests for sealed portable secondary cells and batteries Only the English text of the IEC Publication has been retained while adopting it as an Indian Standard and as such the page numbers given here are not same as in IEC Publication. For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated expressing the result of a test, shall be rounded off in accordance with IS 2:1960 ‘Rules for rounding of numerical values (revised)’. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard. BIS Certification Marking The product may also be marked with the Standard Mark. The use of the Standard Mark is governed by the provisions of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 and the Rules and Regulations made there under.
