PSIBouw
•
•
•
PSIBouw is a National program to improve the
Dutch Construction Industry
This include Process- and System Innovations,
not product innovations
PSIBouw is partly financed (circa 65%) by the
construction industry itself (that is by the
clients construction and engineering
clients,
companies, consultancies etc.) and partly
(other 35%) by the government
PSIBouw
•
The efforts of PSIBouw should lead to a
fundamental and irreversible regeneration
movement in which all the links in the
construction chain and the interests of users
and other stakeholders involved. This
PSIBouw programme will contribute to:
•
•
•
•
added social value
added value for the client
sustainable performance in the construction sector
improved knowledge infrastructure.

Key projects PSIBouw
Since 2005 more than 200 projects have
been started due to the PSIBouw program
Key projects of PSIBouw:
•Living Building Concept
•Building Information Model
•Tempting prospects
•Key publication on Construction education
•Key publication on knowledge infrastructure

Council on building information
Reasons:
• The need to work more efficient and deliver more quality
• The need of an integrated construction process
• ICT, as an enabler, will be an important tool
• Before applying ICT you need to know what you want so
there is a need of common agreements like IFC, IFD and
IDM
• The need to implement those agreements in the
construction industry
• The need of useful ICT, which fits to those agreements
and are adoptable for organizations

Implementation
To implement an integrated construction process
there is a need for development on all three axes
Council on building information
Futuristic view on Process and Information
• An integrated construction process
• Life cycle approach
• Functional specifications, design and
verification
• 3D-models
3D
d l
• More ‘concurrent’ engineering projects
• Agreements on process and information
7
Council on building information
Futuristic view on People and Organization
• New roles, like system engineer and 3Dbuildingmodeller
• More dependency on rules
• More dependency on ICT
• Management has to create conditions for
change

We are not alone
Since 2007 we have a stronger cooperation
with Stanford University USA
Along with other clients like Statsbygg, US
Coastguard, GSA, Senaatti Properties and
National Agency for Enterprise and
Construction ((NAEC)) Dutch clients are
looking how to prescribe BIM and IFC
Since 2006 the Benelux chapter of IAI started
(International Alliance for interoperability,
working title: buildingSMART)
