The self-closing hinge spring kit is an accessory that provides automatic door closure for the following Follett equipment: REF1/REF2 countertop refrigerators, REF4-
ADA* and REF5* undercounter refrigerators, FZR4-ADA* and FZR5* undercounter freezers. The kit is easily installed without removing the existing door hinge.
* For REF4/5 or FZR4/5 applications, two springs must be used and torqued sufficiently to close the door. If the door is not to be locked, removing the striker will allow for easier closing of the door. If the striker is not removed, the unit should be checked periodically to ensure proper operation of the self-closing springs. See Figure 9 for details.

1. Use fl at screwdriver to carefully remove hinge covers. Care should be taken to avoid scratching chrome cover or cabinet (Fig. 1) .
2. Assemble spring kit (Fig. 2) . Note that the pin is not installed until Step 7.

3. Insert bottom of spring kit onto bottom hinge pin
(Fig. 3) .

4. Insert tool as shown and press down on both sides of tool (Fig. 4.1) to compress spring kit , then insert top of spring kit onto top hinge pin (Fig. 4.2) .

5. Remove the tool and insert it (Phillips screwdriver,
Allen key, drift pin) into hole nearest the hinge bracket
(Fig. 5) .

6. Rotate top of spring counter-clockwise to increase the spring torque (Fig. 6) .

7. Insert pin into an open hole nearest the hinge bracket (Fig. 7.1) , and remove the tool used to torque the spring (Fig. 7.2
).
8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 until desired closure force is achieved.
