Rated Engine HP 54 hp (40 kW) Operating Weight EX80: 14,109 lbs (6 400 kg) Bucket Capacity 0.14 – 0.44 yd3 (0.11 – 0.34 m3) Putting Technology To Work Model EX80 Operating Weight Travel Speeds Max. Lift Capacity Gradeability Traction Force 14,109 lbs (6 400 kg) 0 - 3.0 mph (0 - 4.8 km/h) 6,040 lbs (2 740 kg) 35° (70%) 10,400 lbf (4 700 kgf) The EX80 is available with either a straight or off-set boom and an integral dozer blade. The versatility provided by working with the off-set boom is truly mind-expanding…with the push of a foot pedal, you can work three ways around an obstacle or trench precisely next to a building. The EX80 is easily transported without permits, yet can provide impressive production figures. Specifics • Nissan A-BD30 normally aspirated, direct injection diesel engine is extremely fuel-efficient and reliable. It meets all EPA clean air requirements. • State-of-the-industry engine/hydraulic control system with two power modes and one work mode. • Optional off-set boom can offset a maximum of 4 ft. 1 in. (1.23 m) to the left and 3 ft. 7 in. (1.08 m) to the right. The hydraulically-operated system provides infinite positioning of the bucket left or right within the maximum limits. • Cab mounted on six silicone-filled cab mounts which isolate the operator from noise and vibration. • Deluxe suspension seat is fully adjustable for correct positioning of levers to the seat and seat to pedals. Features • The Hitachi EX80 has excellent multi-function features which allow multiple jobs such as travel, swing, and boom raise all at the same time without any one function stopping. • The Super EX80, as with all Hitachi excavator models, is built to maximize performance, reliability, and operator comfort through optimum design and quality components. The Nissan engine is matched to the hydraulic pump for outstanding multiple function performance. The undercarriage, carbody, and front attachment are all balanced and designed for maximum strength. All of this means that your Hitachi EX80 will work economically and productively for years and for thousands of hours at minimum operating costs. 3 Operator Comfort: Long-Life, High-Hour Durability Economical Nissan 54 hp Engine Is Dependable, Long-Lasting A Top Priority Sitting in one place, all day, operating a machine productively takes concentration and dedication to doing a good job. It also means that a smart owner is going to do everything possible to make sure his operator is comfortable in the cab. The Hitachi EX80 is an excellent example of how comfortable a welldesigned cab can be. The Nissan A-BD30 engine is known world-wide for its dependability, easy starting characteristics, and long-life. It is normally aspirated, direct injection with maximum torque at 1,500 rpm. Maximum horsepower is developed at 2,200 rpm. Mechanical governor. SAE rated 54 hp (41 kW) with 134 lbf•ft (18.5 kgf•m). The engine meets all EPA and CARB pollution and noise requirements. Outstanding Traction Force The widest cab in its class: 3 ft. 4 in. Lots of leg room, wide side door. The ergonomically-designed seat is fully adjustable with tilting armrests, tilting back, floating or solidly fixed seat, headrest tilt, and seat raise/lower. The EX80 has a traction force of 10,400 lbf (4 700 kgf) and can climb a maximum grade of 35 degrees. AM-FM Radio The hand control levers can be raised or lowered to match the operator’s build, and the controls can either glide forward or back with the seat or remain fixed while the seat moves. The work modes, power modes, air conditioning controls, and dial-type engine speed control are all located beside the operator. Perfectly Matched Hydraulic System Hitachi expertly matches the engine to the hydraulic pumps and control valves for the best response and longest life possible. The pumps are designed to work specifically with the Nissan engine – regardless of rpm or work load. Round Travel Motor Covers Round travel motor covers provide a higher resistance to deformation. Enhanced E-P Pump Control The wide operator’s view makes safe, productive operation easier to accomplish. The front window crosspiece is lower for improved downward visibility. The right side window is bigger and the overhead window is larger. A sophisticated micro-computer system guided by multiple actuators is exclusively standard on the EX80. Hitachi is renowned for the smooth operation of its excavators and this model is no exception. The new Dash-5 controls provide quick, accurate response to multi-function swing-lift-bucket curl operations. Rugged X-Frame Enhanced Cooling Protection The cab floats on six fluid-filled elastic mounts that smooth out shocks and jolts. Air conditioning is standard on the EX80. 4 The tough tractor-type undercarriage and X-form center frame assure superb durability. The EX80 features 2.6 U.S. gallon (10 liters) cooling system with easily cleaned radiator fins and a 3.3 gallon (12.5 liters) engine oil system. 5 Specifications: EX80 Specifications: EX80 Engine Upperstructure Model ....................................................................................Nissan A-BD30 Type .................................................4-cycle water-cooled, direct injection Rated flywheel horsepower (DIN 6271, net)................................... 55 PS (41 kW) at 2,200 rpm (min-1) Rated flywheel horsepower (SAE J1349, net) ..................................54 hp (40 kW) at 2,200 rpm (min-1) Maximum torque...........................................................134 lbf•ft (18.5 kgf•m) at 1,500 rpm (min-1) Piston displacement ...............................................................180 in3 (2.953 L) Bore and stroke ...............................................3.8” x 4.0” (96 mm x 102 mm) Batteries ...................................................................................2 x 12 V, 52 AH Governor.........................................................................Mechanical all-speed by stepping motor Weights and Ground Pressure Revolving Frame Welded high-sturdy box construction, using heavy-gauge steel plates for ruggedness.
