ED81-401 DAIKIN DECK UNIT USDP~GR Series Cooling 60Hz : 87~165kW DAIKIN DECK UNIT "USDP~GR" Series 1. Introduction of DAIKIN DECK UNIT "DECK UNIT" is one of the Central Air Conditioners for accommodation area, which is assembled in advance by the manufacturer as a self-contained unit and installed in the machine room on the accommodation deck. DAIKIN DECK UNIT- "USDP series is optimally designed for marine application and also gentle for the environment. 2. Features ¡Very Less Operating Vibration and Lower Noise designed for installing in the accommodation The adoption of Hermetic Scroll Compressors makes the operating vibration and noise remarkably lower. This allows the units to install in the accommodation area without troublesome problem. ¡High Static Pressure Fan Easily Conforming to Complex Duct System The high-performance fan can adapt the complex duct system with middle to higher pressure. ¡The Light Weight and Compact Design of Top Level in the Field Because of low height ranging from 1,550 to 1,650 A, the unit can be easily installed in even space-limited deck. Also the light weight from 1,100 to 1,600 O does not interfere with the cruising speed of high-speed ferry. ¡Epoch-making Save Energy in Spite of HFC Unit Optimally designed Scroll Compressors and heat exchangers combined with high-performance fan reduce the power consumption by 15 to 20 %, compared with conventional units. This also contributes to control the CO2 emission from the generator. ¡Excellent Durability for Marine Application Higher reliability is secured by the concentration of the DAIKIN advanced technology, for sea water, sea breeze and ship motion. ¡Economical Maintenance on Board Installing compressors, which realize 40,000h in design service life, in plural not only realizes the free maintenance on board, but save the service cost of compressors by half, compared with the conventional unit. This also enables the unit to continuously operate even in trouble of one compressor. Furthermore, the lighter compressor provided with lifting hook allows replacing work to be easier on board. 3.Guide Specifications Hermetically Sealed Scroll Compressors The compressor optimally developed for R404A has a longer durability, higher efficiency and very less vibration, compared with the conventional Semi-hermetic compressor. Condenser The condenser is a shell and cross fin tube type highly efficient and highly resistant to sea water. It is made of aluminum brass in the cooling tubes, naval clad steel in the tube sheet and cast iron with sacrificial anodes in the water jackets. The joints for water thermometers are provided in the inlet and outlet headers (USDP30,40,50GR). Evaporator The evaporator is a cross fin coil type highly efficient and highly resistant to sea breeze. It is made of copper tubes and aluminum fins with highly anti-corrosive and hydrophilic treatment. Steam heater The steam heater is a cross fin oil type highly resistant to change of air temperature and sea breeze as well. It is made of copper tubes and aluminum fins with highly anti-corrosive treatment. Fan and its relative parts Highly performed multi-blade fan (USDP25GR,30GR) or turbo fan (USDP40GR,50GR) is mounted based on those application, driven by V belts with a separate fan motor. The fan bearings are forced oil feed system, highly durable for sea breeze. The fan motor is "B" class insulation, totally enclosed fan cooled type, prescribed in JIS C4210. Control The unit is operated by the push button switch, and the operating condition can be confirmed by each pilot lamp. The meaning of each pilot lamp is -"White": "Normal power into the unit"and "Green" : "Normal operation". If "Red" lights up, any safety device works to stop the unit till removing the applied cause. Multiple compressors are sequentially started in direct-on-line in order to minimize the starting current. The capacity is controlled in two steps mainly by local thermostat (or possibly by internal thermostat as well) according to the basis air temperature. The following electric and safety devices are equipped in the starter or inside the unit to make the maintenance saving on board. Non-fuse breakers and ammeters are equipped in the starter for each circuit of comp. or fan motor. Over current relay(each comp., fan motor), fuses, thermal protectors, high and low pressure switches and reverse phase protector and so on are equipped in order to prevent the abnormal operation. The contact terminals indicating "Normal" or "Abnormal" are provided for connecting to the central observation board. The power and control cables to/from the central board can be conducted through combing holes on the bottom side of the starter. Structure The outside and inside plates are constructed with the rigid frame in long durability. Anti-corrosive acrylic powder painting is coated even in every nook and corner-casing, drain pan, bottom frame, partition plate, fan housing and fan motor base, etc. Either right or left drain connection allows the condensing drain water to smoothly discharge outside in rolling angle. Applicable Standard The unit is certified by NK standard. This system is so independent only for the air conditioning in the accommodation that any other rules of classification society are excluded except the ship owner's special request. Installation Instruction Warning ¡ Request the installation to the dealer you purchased. Otherwise it will cause water leak, electric shock and fire, if you yourself will carry out the installation and there will be improper works. ¡ Contact the dealer you purchased for the refrigerant leaks countermeasure. When unit is installed in a small room, certain countermeasures are required so that the density of the refrigerant should not exceed the permissible density, even if the refrigerant leaks. If refrigerant leaks and will be beyond the permissible density, it may cause an accident with a short of oxygen. Caution ¡ Do not install units in a place where there may be possible leak of a combustible gas. If the gas leaks and remains around the units, it may happen to be ignited. ¡ Grounding wire connection If a grounding work is not properly done, it may cause electric shock. ¡ Install a short circuit breaker. Otherwise, it may cause electric shock. ¡ Install drain pipes so that the drain can securely flow out. Otherwise, it may cause water leak. Make sure the following instructions so as to operate the unit perfectly and comfortably. If something inconvenient will be found, be sure to use the unit after it will be amended. ¡ Is the sufficient distance provided to the obstacles around the unit? ¡ Is the power line only for the use of the airconditioner? If the power supply line is used together with other electric equipment, it may cause to cut the breaker or fuse. ¡ Is it not afraid to injure wiring or piping? ¡ Is the unnatural force loaded on the wiring connected in the field(including grounding wires)? ¡ Is the wiring connected in the field clamped(including ground wires)? 28 ¡ Is the unit installed on the place sufficiently endurable for the weight of airconditioner? Is the unit fixed tightly with the foundation bolts onto the floor? If the bolts are loosened or removed, it will cause noise or vibration, and unnatural force will be loaded on the piping or wiring. ¡ Is a drain trap provided on the drain piping? Unless a trap with the head more than negative pressure is provided, drainage failure may happen and cause a water leak. Carrying in ¡ When hanging up the unit, use the suspension bolts (Fig 1)and pay attention to carry out it safely. Fig 1 B 110 φ 60 C 110 A D 55 Size M30 Rope angle θ > 45° Installation 1. Fix the bottom frame of the unit onto the foundation with the foundation bolts(Fig 2). 2. Make the horizontal foundation so as to be endurable against the unit weight. 3. Select the location of installation based on the easiness of the drain streaming out. 4. Attach the piping onto the safety valve in order to release the gas into the air. Fig 2 Location of foundation bolt holes on the bottom frame. Applied USDP25GR USDP30GR USDP40GR,50GR models A 1700 B 1960 C 125 D F 5. Provide a space around the unit for the air suction and for maintenance and service work (Fig 3). 1550 1000 E 20 1760 1210 G 10 H 22 Space for maintenance and air suction Fig 3 Maintenance space Air suction space Air outlet Air suction Fig 4 6. When two units will be installed, provide a space as shown in Fig 4. 7. Equip a remove-free canvas duct onto the air outlet as a rule. 29 Drain Piping Be sure to provide a trap on each drain outlet. That is why the trap will prevent not only the induction of bad smell but also slow action of drain stream caused by the negative pressure inside the airconditioner during operation. An example of drain trap installation is shown below. "Head corresponding to the negative pressure" in the Figure stands for the head corresponding to the negative pressure arisen in the airconditioner. Drain at upper part Drain at lower part More than the head corresponding to the negative pressure. More than the head corresponding to the negative pressure. More than the head corresponding to the negative pressure. Drain trap More than the head corresponding to the negative pressure. Thermostat The thermostat(23A1) built in the unit USD(P)~GR is provided as a low temperature protector. Accordingly, the thermostat should not be used for indoor temperature control. Provide a room thermostat or a thermostat(23A2) in the return duct in the local field so as to control temperature. [Location] ¡ Provide a temperature sensor in the return duct or around the inlet part of the return duct flowing into the room. ¡ Select the location where direct sunshine, chilled air, heated air, and other radiation heat don't influence the sensor. ¡ Refer to the electric wiring diagram concerning the wiring works. [Note for the thermostat selection] ¡ Select the thermostat with the differential by 2°C or more, and not to act ON/OFF in a short time. Caution for the condenser maintenance (1) Regulate the water flow. If the water flow rate (water velocity) exceeds the specified amount, tubes can be damaged in a short time. Control the water flow to maintain the following guidelines. ¡ Condensing temperature : 30°C or higher. ¡ Temp. difference of in- and outlet : 3°C or higher. (2) Replace the zinc plates. In order to make the condenser last longer, check the zinc plates for corrosion protection every 3 months. If worn out, make sure to replace it. When checking, be sure to turn off the power source of pump. (3) Cleaning the condenser cooling tubes. Clean the cooling tubes if necessary. 30 9. Cooling Water Piping [Work Procedure] 1. Remove the front and rear cover of the condenser from the right and the left. 2. Exchange the front cover with the rear cover together with the packing. 3. Tighten up the covers with bolts. Note: Just move the covers horizontally to each other and don't revolute it upside down. 4. Tighten up the header with bolts and that's all. Drain Piping 1) Upper drain piping [Work Procedure] Exchange the mating flange in the right with the blind flange in the left. 2) Below drain piping [Work Procedure] 1. In case of rightward connection, screw up the short drain pipe straight to the right side face. (Use white seal tape on the screw part) 2. In case of leftward connection, remove the left blind cap to screw up the blind cap to the right. For the next step, screw up the attached short drain pipe to the left to finish. (Use white seal tape on the screw part) Note: 1. The short drain pipe is accessories part and not to be screwed in the main unit inherently. 2. The blind cap is attached just in the left side and not attached in the right side. 33 Relief Gas Piping on Safety Valve [Work procedure] Exchange the right side mating flange with the left side blind flange. Piping for Steam Heater and Steam Spray. [Work procedure] 1. Remove the glass fibers in the pass of rightward piping. 2. Remove the short drain pipe at each outlet/inlet piping by means of a piping wrench. (the short pipe is set to be screwed). 3. Since the part the piping passes through in the left side panel is structured as knock punch hole, knock it off. 4. Dismantle the exterior panels in the right and left 7. Restore the exterior panel in the right and left. 8. Wind the glass fibers around the short drain pipe which was removed, up to the position of 80 mm ~ 90 mm from the flange face and fix it securely with brass wires. (so that the steam piping will not touch the casing). 9. Screw the short pipe for piping connection into the left. 10. Attach the blind rubber bush onto the opening in the right exterior panel(for the prevention of air leakage). Refer to the next page for the blind rubber bush's size. Besides, purchase the rubber bush independently. 5. Since the blind plug is screwed in at the left side steam piping connection, remove it. 6.
