This compact unit includes integrated machine logic and motion control, a built-in power supply, Ethernet port, USB, serial and external encoder interface module, and offers seamless connectivity to Mitsubishi Electric’s high performance MR-J3-B servo line. Mitsubishi products have always defined superior control performance and now the Q170MCPU stand alone motion controller elevates it further by combining its powerful iQ Platform machine logic and motion controller into one unit with ease of integration that manufacturers need to minimize their total cost of ownership. “Today’s OEM’s and end users require not only improved CPUs to boost functionality, performance and cost efficiency, but also higher overall throughput, said Sunny Ainapure, product manager, Mitsubishi Electric Automation. “The Q170MCPU delivers higher throughput because of its high speed synchronous 50Mbps optical communication motion network and its accuracy in motion synchronization. The company reduced the command operation cycle time of the motion controller to 0.44 msec.” The Q170MCPU offers 1~16 axes of motion control of positioning, speed, torque and offers onthe-fly mode switching, registration, electronic cam, line shaft and gearing. This motion controller with compact MR-J3B servos allows for smaller, more modular machines because it reduces cabinet space, cable trays and conduit, and makes it easy to add an axis to the machine with quick release plug-and-play fiber optical cable. OEMs can standardize on a single machine cabinet configuration for all of the machines they manufacture while reducing their project planning and delivery time considerably. Furthermore, their machines are more easily configurable to meet their customer’s needs with little or no impact on their engineering. In terms of programming software, Mitsubishi’s MT Developer 2, MR-Configurator and GX Developer 2 may be used with the new motion controller. This allows programming motion profiles by using sequential functional chart and mechanical support language, similar to the company’s iQ platform. The Q170MCPU shares a common programming language with the Mitsubishi Q series PAC, iQ and MR-MQ100 (1.5 axis controller) to ensure faster set up and easy programming. These new units are CE, UL, and cUL approved as well as RoHS complaint. About Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc.
