Soft Start Power Saving Cabinet Instruction Manual
※Before starting up
Before switching on the power main switch in the electrical cabinet and the control power supply
switch, please confirm that the power supply has been switched on.
※Starting up
1.
Press the “start” button on the electrical cabinet control panel to start the motor.
2.
When the running indicating light is alight, the motor is then running normally.
3.
When pressing the STOP button, the motor will be stopped and the indicating light will be
turned off.
If the FAILURE INDICATION light is turned on when the equipment is running, it should check the
soft starter first. After confirming there is nothing unusual, it can press the FAULT RESET button to
restart the motor.
1. DLT series soft starter’s effect and characteristic
DLT series digital alternating-current motor soft starter adopts Power Electronics Technique,
Microprocessor Technique and Modern Control Theory Design, which has international advanced
level new type starting-up equipment. This equipment can effectively limit the starting current when
the asynchronous dynamo starts. It can be widely used in fan, water pump, conveyor, compressor and
other loading equipments. It is an ideal replacement of STAR-DELTA transition, self-coupling reduced
voltage starters, magnetic control reduced voltage starters and other voltage reducing starting-up
equipments.
1.1. Effect

Reduce the motor’s starting current and reduce the power distribution capacity to avoid
capacity increasing investment.
l
Reduce the start-up enabling stress, extend the motor and relevant equipment service life.
l
Various starting up mode and broad range current, voltage and so on settings, can adapt to
various loading conditions for improving processes.

1.2. Characteristics
l
Starting-up mode: Chose among different starting-up mode and parameter settings according
to different loading characteristic. It can run the motor in the best starting-up effect.
l
High technology characteristic: due to adopting high-performance micro-processor and
mighty software support function, making the control circuit simplified. It is not necessary to
adjust the circuit parameter. It has already gained unanimous, precise and good operating
performance.
l
High reliability: all the electrical elements of DLT series soft starter have been gone through
strict siftings. The master control board has gone through high temperature loop around test
and vibration test to guarantee high reliability of all outgoing products.
l
Optimized structure: it has unique modular structure, up-inlet and low-output connection
mode. Introduce anti-jamming technique and reasonable control panel layout. The keyboard
uses I 2C trunk with small size, which is convenient for integration and forming set.
l
Keyboard setting function: a continent visualized operation display keyboard. It can set or
advise according to different load to start, stop, run, protect and other parameters.
l
Protective function: DLT series soft starter provides protection function to the start process of
motors against losing-phase, overload, overcurrent, overheat and starting time limit and so on.
l
Rated output current (power) setting: when the soft starter’s nominal power is larger than
reality load power, it can revise the soft starter’s reality output current to make it match up
with the reality load current, so as to guarantee the protection function provided by the soft
starter to the motor’s starting effect and reliability.
l
Excellent soft stop function: when you choose DLT soft starter and set soft stop function, no
matter if it is under starting or running condition, it has soft stop effect. It is especially suitable
for line production such as bottling line and water pump type and other load lines.
2.
Product model and inspection
Each set of DLT series soft starters has been gone through all functions and running tests. As soon
as receiving this equipment and seal off, the users should inspect it as per the following inspection

steps. If finding any problems, please contact with the supplier as soon as possible.

Check if there is any damage during transportation, such as: interior components fall off, hull
hollowing, deformation, wire disconnection and so on.
l

Service condition and installation
3.1 Service condition
Service condition has big influence to the normal use and service life of the soft starter. Please
settle the soft starter at a site which is in accordance to the following condition.
Conventional product’s service conditions:
Power supply: electric supply, private station, diesel generator set.
Three phase current: 380V（-20%，+15%），50Hz.
Suitable motor: normal squirrel cage asynchronous motor.
Starting frequentness: it suggests that standard products should not start and stop over 15 times an
hour (according to the load).
Cooling type: 75kw and below power are natural air cooling. 90kw and above power are forced
cooling.
Service condition: DLT series soft starters should be connected to bypass contactor and necessary
motor protection while running.
Protection grade: IP20；
Environment condition: elevation over 2000 meters, the capacity should be reduced accordingly.
Ambient temperature should be between: -25℃～+40℃.
The humidity should not be above 95 % (20℃±5℃), no condensation, no flammability, no explosive
or corrosive gas, no electrical conductivity. Install it indoor with good ventilation. The vibration
should be below 0.5G
3.2 Installation requirement
DLT series soft starter’s installation mode is wall-mounted.

3.3 Most recently error query
When the soft starter is under the condition of ready, it shows:

3.4 Error display illustration and solution

Error illumination and solution
User parameter set wrong. When the soft starter is self-checking, if the user set parameter
is wrong, the keyboard would show this. Under such condition, the system will
automatically restore all the parameter to factory settings.
Solution: due to the parameter has been restored to factory settings, the user should
reset the parameter.
Input voltage is losing-phase. The system will check through the whole work condition.
Once the system finds that the input voltage is loosing-phase, it can finish the protective
action within 0.2~0.4 second and shows this.
Solution: check the input power to see if it is losing-phase.
Overcurrent. During the motor is starting, if the current is suddenly rising up (such as the
motor is blocked up), and when the peak value exceeds 6 times as the rated current, the
system can finish stoppage sending trigger signal to thyristor and it goes into error
protective mode showing this figures.
Solution: check the load or machinery driving to see if it runs smoothly.
Soft starter overheat. The system checks the thyristor module temperature continuously
throughout the working status. Once the temperature exceeds the rated figures, it will do
the protection to the system and show the very message.
Solution: check the load to see if it is over loaded or the starting times are too much
frequent.
Starting time overranging. While the soft starter is under voltage-slope mode, the motor’s
actual starting time would exceed the user setting slope starting time for 5 seconds, the start
current is still smaller than 125% as the present set rated current, or the soft starter is
working in current-limiting mode and after the motor’s actual starting time exceeds user
setting current-limiting start limited time, the start current is not yet lower than 125% as the
present setting rated current, and the system is in the error protective status and shows this
message.
Solution: check the load if it is overloaded or the set time is too shot.

Remarks:
1. The last error code record check method is illustrated in “3.3 Most recently error query”.
2. Once the error occurs, there are three ways of reset as below:
l Press
button for 3 seconds.
l Short the external control terminal RET and COM, and maintain for 3 seconds.
l After the soft starter is power off, power it on again.
