Journals Call for Papers IET Power Electronics OPEN PUBLI ACCESS SHING AVAILA NOW BLE Editor-in-Chief: Professor Volker Pickert, Newcastle University, UK Deputy Editor-in-Chief: Dr Mohamed Dahidah, Newcastle University, UK Special Issue: Hybrid Multilevel Converters: Topologies, Modulation and Control Multilevel converters are a well-developed and established technology particularly in the area of medium and high-power conversion. Various converter topologies have been successful commercially and operating in a range of applications. The extensive research on multilevel converters has led to the development of a range of topologies which comprise combinations of different topologies, voltage levels and semiconductor technologies, collectively known as hybrid multilevel converters (HMCs). The main aim of hybridization is to combine the benefits provided by the different multilevel converters while reducing or eliminating some of the drawbacks inherent to each topology. Additional benefits include the increase in the number of voltage levels and improvement in the quality of the output waveforms the converters can provide. Many current applications of HMCs confirm that this technology will continue to grow over the coming years. The technical topics in this IET Power Electronics journal Special Issue include: n Topologically HMCs – NPC-based structure with H-bridge cells – Hybrid NPC- and FC-based topologies – Stacked multicell converters – Multilevel converters using bidirectional switches – Multilevel converters with the addition of half- or full-bridge topologies – Hybridization between voltage- and current-source converters – Fault-tolerant HMCs – Other HMC topologies n Modular topologies using asymmetric voltages – Hybrid cascaded H-bridge converter – Hybrid modular multilevel converter – Other modular topologies fed with different voltages n Multilevel topologies integrated by different semiconductor technologies – Topologies using Si and wide-bandgap devices (SiC, GaN,...) – Hybridization between different wide-bandgap technologies – Topologies including thyristors and other power devices – Other configurations using two or more switching technologies n Modulation and control of hybrid multilevel topologies – Carrier-based modulation for HMCs – Space-vector modulation for HMCs – Voltage and current balancing techniques – Advanced control techniques applied to HMCs nApplications – Variable speed drives – Grid-connected applications – Renewable energy applications – Hybrid & plug-in hybrid electric vehicles Authors are invited to submit a full article according to the IET research journal author guide, using IET manuscript central submission below. The submission must be of high quality, presenting original research, and should not be under consideration for publication in other journals. All submissions are subject to the journal’s peer-review procedures. The individual papers accepted for publication in the Special Issue will be published as e-first ahead of the print publication. The authors should follow the journal’s Author Guide at http://digital-library.theiet.org/journals/author-guide. This allows authors to disseminate their research to a wider audience. Please contact us if you require any further information. What is Open Access Publishing? Open access publishing enables peer reviewed, accepted journal articles to be made freely available online to anyone with access to the internet. Open access publishing with the IET is funded through author publication charges. This model differs from the subscription based publishing model, whereby readers (or more commonly, readers’ institutions) pay for access to journal articles. For more information, contact us on journals@theiet.org. Why publish in IET Power Electronics ? Worldwide readership and database coverage - including IET Inspec, SCI-E, Scopus and EI Compendex, allows your research to be easily accessed n Online submission and tracking for up-to-date progress of your paper n Prompt and rigorous peer review provides authors with a quick decision about publication n Open access option available in all IET journals allows authors to disseminate their research to a wider international audience and is made freely available online n IET journals are available online via the IET Digital Library and IEEE Xplore for easy sharing of your research n Articles are published e-first in advance of the printed publication making your research available at the earliest opportunity n Contact us: IET Power Electronics IET Research Journals Dept.
