Wooden Inner Cover Use

**NEW FEATURES**

Inner covers are essential for wintering bees in colder climates. When placed under the telescoping outer cover, an inner cover allows moisture to escape and fresh air to circulate throughout the hive. This lowers the moisture content of the nectar stored in the comb. Our wooden inner cover features a notch in the rim, allowing bees to have a top entrance or exit. The notch should be facing down in the winter to facilitate faster entry and exit for bees during cleansing flights.

**Our inner cover now features a deep rim on one side, allowing room for feeding patties or fondant. The deep rim should be facing down when feeding patties or fondant. No need for an additional shim! During warmer weather when you are not feeding, flip the inner cover so the deep rim is facing up towards the telescoping outer cover.
