Tagline: A young gay teen struggles in a fixed marriage.
Logline: An LGBT teen living in rural Indonesia struggles between the traditions of his
upbringing and his romantic idealization of the freedom of the west.
Synopsis: Aris and his mother Ros rush to a prewedding ceremony happening at Fausi’s
house. Aris is set to marry Fausi’s daughter Gita. Aris goes to school and speaks to his
teacher, Peter, who congratulates him on his wedding. Aris enjoys his moment alone
before getting his haircut for his big day. He goes to the mosque and runs into Fausi. He
invites him over for tea and subjects him to a graphic account of his new husband duties
to Gita. He goes to Gita who taunts and upsets him. He pleads to his mother and admits
his fear of getting married and she tries to comfort him. He goes in the night to Peter’s
house and confesses his true feelings about not wanting to get married. They share a
moment of attraction and they end up kissing. But Peter is not able to help Aris, and he
flees. He wakes up the next day, dressing up for his wedding, but clinging onto one last
thing that helps make him feel like himself.

Creative Team Bios:
Valerie Castillo Martinez, Producer
Valerie was born in Manila, Philippines and is an MFA
Creative Producing candidate. She served in the US Air
Force as a systems analyst, completed her MBA and
worked in the financial industry prior to crossing over to
film. She has written, directed and produced several short
films in the US, Spain, Lebanon and the Philippines. She
started her company Indieflip in 2012 with a vision to make films on underrepresented
subjects and cross cultural themes. She has several projects currently in development.
Yudho Aditya, Director/Co-Writer
Yudho was born in Jakarta, Indonesia but relocated to the
United States when he was 10. While attending the
University of California, Irvine, he was the recipient of
the Roston Grant for Outstanding Film Student as well as
the Tonelli Essay Prize for Film & Media Criticism. He is
currently pursuing an MFA in directing at Columbia University in New York. In addition
to the BFI award-winning short, “Missed,” he also directed the viral hit drama,
“Midnights with Adam,” the festival favorite comedy, “Pipe Dream” and currently has
two shorts in post-production.
Dea Kulumbegashvili Writer - Original Screenplay
Dea was born and raised in Georgia. She grew up in the
remote Caucasus Mountains in the small town of
Lagodekhi. Her upbringing in this historic melting pot of
various cultures and nationalities is a primary influence in
her vision as a filmmaker. After extensive years of
working in the world of film, Dea enrolled at the
Columbia University’s Directing and Screenwriting program in 2013. In 2014, her short
film Invisible Spaces has been accepted at the Cannes Film Festival in the short film
competition.
Barbara Cigarroa, Co-writer
Barbara Cigarroa grew up in Texas with a large multicultural family who has roots both in the United States
and in Mexico. A graduate from Yale University,
Barbara majored in English with a concentrationin
Creative Writing. Her first short film Marta Rosa has
won awards in Palm Springs, and played in numerous
festivals such as Austin, NY short film festival and Guadalajara film festival.

Key Cast:
Chicco Kurniawan was born and raised in Jakarta,
Indonesia. After having done several appearances for
commercials and print ads, this is Chicco’s first acting role
as lead in a film.
Karlina Inawati is a veteran TV and film actress in
Indonesia, who stars in several shows such as Whispering
Sands and Pasik Berbisik.
Otig Pakis is also a veteran TV and film actor in Indonesia
with extensive acting experiences in movies like Kisah 3
Titik, Batas and Pocong.
Gladhys Syahutari has theater background and is
currently completing her undergraduate studies in Acting.
This is her first film role.
Jacob McCarthy was born and raised in Ireland and
completed his studies in acting at LAMDA. His next film
role will be in “The Drummer and the Goalkeeper” funded
under IFB’s Catalyst Project.
