Tankless Water Heaters
John Wood powered by Takagi commercial models offer important factors for any commercial
organization or business: saving space, energy and money. Offering light duty models for lessdemanding commercial applications to robust models to suit the most challenging of applications.
Features
• Tankless water heaters only activate
when hot water is being used - therefore
no standby energy losses are incurred,
providing efficient heating and conserving
gas energy
• Condensation-reducing design to prevent
premature failure of the heat exchanger
from excess condensate
• Models feature multiple unit installation of
up to 4 units with no additional accessories
and up to 20 units with TM-MC02 system
controller (except JWT-510)
• Heat exchanger manufactured with HRS35 commercial-grade heat-resistant copper alloy that
has 8 times more tensile strength than regular copper ensuring its longevity and 25 times the
heat transfer rate than stainless steel
• Drums that are 25% thicker, ensuring the longevity of the water heater - a thicker drum creates
less strain on the heat exchanger
• Can be installed as a Direct Vent with the
purchase of a Direct Vent Conversion Kit (with

High-Efficiency Modulating Gas Water Heater
John Wood® commercial high-efficiency modulating gas water heaters are
designed for outstanding reliability and excellent thermal efficiency. Compared
to standard commercial water heaters, these models deliver higher rated
thermal efficiencies up to 98%.
Features
• Fully submerged, spiral-shaped condensing heat exchanger to maximize heat
transfer, provide high efficiency, and avoid sediment buildup on the heat exchanger
surface
• Adjusts firing rate to the specific demand, increasing efficiency and money savings
• ENERGY STAR® qualified
• Down-fired pre-mix powered burner provides optimum efficiency and quiet operation
• Robust direct spark ignition for years of worry free operation
• Top mounted controls (gas valve, combustion air blower) for easy access during
installation and service
• Advanced control system provides detailed status information including diagnostics
and run history information as well as precise temperature control adjustment from
90°F (32°C) to 180°F (82°C)
• User-friendly LCD display shows all operating settings for ease of use
• Powered anodes: two titanium powered anodes provide superior tank protection in
varying water conditions
• Flexible venting options: standard power vent or power direct vent flexibility, in vertical
or sidewall configurations, using ULC S636 PVC, CPVC, polypropylene or AL29-4C®
stainless steel pipe in runs of up to 115 feet depending upon vent pipe size
• Commercial grade glass-lined tank and heat exchanger provide long-term
protection against corrosive water, flue gases and condensate

Polaris® High-Efficiency Gas Water Heaters
Polaris is the quiet and efficient way to heat water. With a thermal efficiency of 95%–96%
and ultra-quiet radial blower and submerged burner, Polaris offers high efficiency and
whisper-quiet start-up and operation. Installation and service are easy with all gas valve and
blower adjustments factory pre-set and no special adjustments required at initial startup.
A self-diagnostic microprocessor monitors nine critical functions and LED trouble-shooting
light signals operation status.

• High grade stainless steel tank with brass connections for years of
dependable service—no anode required
• Submerged combustion chamber with spiral flue for 95–96% thermal
efficiency and ultra-low standby heat loss
• Woven metal fibre burner of refractory steel resists corrosion, produces
low NOx emissions, is resistant to thermal and mechanical shocks and
provides even heat distribution through uniform combustion
• Power/Direct Vent up to 120’ using 2” or 3” ULC S636 approved PVC or CPVC
• Plug-and-play technology with no special adjustments at initial startup
including no adjustments or derating for high-altitude installations
• External temperature adjustment knob up to 185°F
• Full serviceability from the front
• Modular components are easily removed
• Multiple 1” brass tank connections and full flow brass drain valve (side

Atmospheric Vent Water Heaters
The next generation of Atmospheric Vent natural gas and propane water heaters handles a
wide range of applications with inputs from 120,000 BTU to 500,000 BTU. With Intermittent
Electronic Ignition, these units save energy by eliminating the standing pilot and the high
pressure water jets reduce sediment at the bottom of the tank prolonging tank life.

Our line of professional hot water recirculating storage tanks are available in 80 and 119 US
gallon models, jacketed and insulated or bare and enamel painted. Manufactured with ease
of installation in mind, connections are simplified for large recirculating water lines, while
the tanks come complete with easily accessible openings for a one inch T&P valve and a 3/4
inch aquastat.

Sample Specifications
Tankless Models
Water heater(s) shall be John Wood powered by Takagi Model____________________ as manufactured by Takagi, shall be a copper coil integral fin
and tube construction with quick release brass or bronze waterways. Heater(s) will be factory assembled and tested.
Commercial Condensing water heaters shall be vented with 3” or 4” Schedule 40 ULC S636 PVC, CPVC, or polypropylene vent pipe, or stainless steel
Category III/IV vent pipe at a distance not to exceed 70’ (equivalent) for 3” vent or 100’ (equivalent) for 4” vent, terminating vertically or horizontally
as prescribed. Intake air pipe may be of such material as ABS, PVC, polypropylene, galvanized B-Vent, corrugated aluminum or stainless steel, or
Category III/IV stainless steel not to exceed 70’ (equivalent) for 3” vent or 100’ (equivalent) for 4” vent.
Commercial Non-Condensing water heaters shall be vented with 4” or 5” Category III stainless steel vent pipe a distance not to exceed 50’ (equivalent)
feet terminating vertically or horizontally as prescribed. Intake air with optional direct vent kit may be of such material as PVC or CPVC, galvanized
B-Vent, corrugated aluminum or stainless steel or Category IV stainless steel not to exceed a total of 50’ (equivalent).
The heater(s) shall be controlled by an onboard solid-state printed circuit board monitoring incoming and outgoing temperatures with factory
installed thermistors, sensing and controlling flow rate to set point temperature, controlling both air and gas mixture inputs to maintain thermal
combustion efficiency. The heater(s) shall also consist of inline fusing, a spark ignition and sensor system, aluminized stainless steel burners, an air-fuel
ratio sensor, a hi-limit temperature switch, modulating and proportional gas valves, a freeze protection sensor with ceramic heating blocks, and an
overheat cutoff fuse.
The water heater(s) shall be CSA listed and exceed the energy efficiency requirements of ASHRAE 90.1b.
Commercial Electric Models
Heavy-Duty Surface Thermostat Models
Commercial electric water heater(s) shall be John Wood Model

warranty, as outlined in the written warranty. Units shall be designed to burn
________ (natural/propane) gas and be CSA International certified to the
latest edition of ANSI Standard Z21.10.3/CSA 4.3. Water heater(s) shall have a
nominal storage capacity of _____ US gallons and a recovery rate of _____
GPH at 100°F rise with a rated input of _______ BTU/h. Water heater(s) shall
be condensing type with a minimum thermal efficiency of 95-96%, power

integrated control circuit, an immersed thermistor temperature sensor, a
recycling energy cut-off switch, external temperature adjustment up to
185°F, and shall have LED lights that continuously indicate the operational

inspection port/cleanout. The outer jacketing shall have a smooth baked
enamel finish. The tank shall be foam insulated with a non-CFC material 2”
in thickness. Storage tank(s) shall have a 5-year limited warranty as outlined

inspection port/cleanout. Storage tank(s) shall have a 5-year limited
warranty as outlined in the written warranty.
Commercial Oil Model
Commercial oil water heater(s) shall be John Wood Model JWF657 as
manufactured by A. O. Smith design and listed with CSA International for
commercial water heater(s) having delivery capabilities of 180°F water
and meet or exceed all applicable energy codes. Water heater(s) shall
have a storage capacity of 65 US gallons, 138,500 BTU/h input. Recovery
capacity rating of 142 GPH at 100° F temperature rise. Heaters shall be
design tested and listed in accordance with CSA International standard.
Heaters shall comply with ASHRAE Standard 90.1. Water heater(s) steel
tank is hydrostatic tested at 300 PSI having a working pressure of 150 PSI
and shall have a glass lined tank applied under pressure and fired at 1600°F

outlined in the written warranty. Units shall be designed to burn ________
(natural/propane) gas and be design certified by Underwriters Laboratories
(UL) under Volume III tests for commercial water heaters for delivery of
180°F water and to the current edition of ANSI Standard Z21.10.3/CSA
4.3. Water heater(s) shall have a nominal storage capacity of _____ US
gallons and a recovery rate of _____ GPH at 100°F rise with a rated input
of _______ BTU/h and a maximum hydrostatic working pressure of 160
